We don't need no stinkin' disks over here. "If something gets in your way, turn." 1 petcock and a vacuum operated fuel pump included. Pulled a plug in the intake manifold and that is where the vacuum hose goes. Basicaly pumps the fuel from the lowest part of the tank on the left, to the upper right side with the petcock. Nice setup for the monster desert rides.
My Baja Designs kit is being delivered on Saturday (according to Mr. UPS) . I just got my insurance quote to put her on the road. After a mandatory $50 inspection, $550 will get me registration a plate and a full year of insurance. And that's actually pretty cheap for Canadian insurance. I'm just lucky that it's easy to put it on the road.
Where did you get the Precision Concepts fork protectors? Went to their site and could not fine them. http://69.20.48.188/ I bought an Ebay 650, had the forks and shock redone but my guy couldn't get the left fork back together. Problem was a rock ding on the outside deformed the inside of the lower fork tube. I am thinking those protectors are a good idea.
Anybody really proud of their wiring setup under the seat? With Baja Designs kit mine needs some organization.
I'll never forget the day I was riding along a double track and I saw this nice smooth patch of dirt off to the right. I swung into it an to my surprize I sunk way over the pegs. I was like what the h*ll, I hopped off quick and started pushin back onto the trail throwing roost 40' in the air, it smelled something awful. Thats when I realized that I had just got stuck in a manure pit. I laughed so hard. Me and the bike was completely covered with s$#&, flinging it for the next 2 miles. I loved that bike and will get another soon!
Dirtbleed, thanks. If you look at the right leg in the picture just up from the N in precision is where my little ding is.
Any of you guys ever run two up on your XR650R? I recently rode an XR650L two up for a short ride and it wasn't so bad considering the versatilty of the bike, an R would be even better if two up is a possibilty. Thanks in advance.
My Gfriend and I do 2up urban riding with backpacks on the XR650R. It has BD passenger footpegs but It is far from ideal. She did love the KLR in comaprison.
Here's the pig in all her glory . She in the midst of getting her Baja Designs D/S kit! She already has her el cheapo Kenda 270 DOT tires and some vibro-matic Acerbis rally mirrors. Hopefully on Thursday she'll get her inspection and get plated.
I recomend doing this, I hadn't and broke two of the 4 brackets that hold the headlight on this weekend. One went sunday, the other on tuesday 500 miles later.
A work in progress... The XRR is a great platform to build on. Can't wait for a little off roading when the weather improves. Thanks!
Here's the finished product.. I can't say enough about the guys at Baja Designs . Very helpful over the phone and email to help me sort out everything from my order to a finicky LED turn signal. I'd definitely recommend them for D/S stuff. And it works very well on the stock stator. After seeing Bimotakid's bike me thinks I'll be doing black plastic all round. Very schweet .
