It was merely an attempt at humour, albeit a feeble one. Lucas has a history of innovation but has been much maligned for it's lack of reliability, perceived or real, on British cars and bikes. Having never owned a British vehicle I can't comment as to whether those issues were real or imagined. On a completely different note, I just happened to look at my post count and realized that I have reached the Number of the Beast...........666. In the thread that got me hooked on ADV Rider no less, cool.
Just cracked the 10,000 mile mark from a 2008 frame-up restoration. Mikuni TM34 flatslide, Clubman rearsets, Tomeselli clipons, original 1969 Dunstall tank, seat and fairing, Avon Roadriders.....fast?.....nahhh.
Lucas has a history of innovation but has been much maligned for it's lack of reliability, perceived or real, on British cars and bikes. Funny that, Always thought WIPAC invented darkness and flat batteries but Lucas (The Prince of Darkness) took out a patent on the process. Later CEV (Italian electrics) seemed to copy both
I'm sure I posted this somewhere on the site Late 80's - 900 Duke. Odd wheels are down to the front magnesium dissolving and the bike being my only form of transport at the time, probably not the best choice of a daily rider and I did walk a lot
Its a standard bike with funny handlebars, the front mudguard taken off and a pair of Harley shocks and silencers. How does that make a cafe racer?
That is exactly how it started. Nice looking ride. I really struggle with that vincent though. I guess if a Vinny is too far gone to fully restore, making a mod like that is ok. But it still doesn't seem right.
Yes it was, then I brought it to the Mods and Rockers show downtown Kansas City. They all thought it was a cafe racer. Of course I had a black X on the headlight, that must have fooled them. But how did I know I should have told them different?
It's a STREET TRACKER! Not a cafe' but nicely done. Post it on the Flat track & street tracker thread
