Just Goosing Around... First steps into Guzzi land...

Thanks, I was lucky and found a seller who just sells and oil seal and o-ring kit, the three big ones, and the 12 little ones for the cylinder bolts.

I also have a full 750 gasket set coming from Italy, sometime, they said it could be three weeks?

So Tuesday night was bath night, and I had the carbs all stripped down and ready to dive in, add a dash of washing up liquid, set the temp to 50deg, and the timer for half an hour......





all nice and clean now, just waiting on a few gaskets

Do we have any Guzzi clock restorers out there in ADV land?

I have a a pair of speedo's that need the bezel and glass taken from one, and put on the other.

I am clumsy, I will break it.:huh

this could easily be the source of your oil leak.
The top 4 orings. The bottom 2 are another story.

I have been thinking the same, and I have two sets of those little o-rings sitting here waiting for a warm day

And by fun you must mean costly

The way I see it, is you can buy a good looking shiney bike, that the owner tells you is fantastic, reliable, never had a problem, that becomes a money pit when you get it home, or you can buy an honest project, that is not hiding behind shiney paint and polish. I know which one I would buy

Sunday morning was upon me, so I thought what should I do with it? I know, I shall drag the Guzzi from its slumbers, and have a pootle about in the direction of the Barge, and maybe look into booking a few places for a camping weekend later in the year.

So I walked down to my lockup, and dragged the old girl out, she was a bit sluggish to start, the cold had got to the battery, but it did start. Next I had to find a garage as both tyres were pretty soft, so once that was sorted, and after a blast round the block, to make sure all was well, I headed out.

The first thing I needed to do though was find a roadside coffee hut, and grab a bacon roll and coffee, well that wasn't to hard to sort out and I was soon getting on the outside of both...



while enjoying the coffee, a nice little Fiat 500 pulled up..



Coffee and roll now done I once more headed out, to do my task for the day, and having done that I returned home to give the Guzzi and my R80 a good wash, to clear the lingering road salt that blows about at this time of the year...









Once that was done, I adjusted up the gear linkage assembly on the Guzzi before dropping it back to the lockup.

I am so looking forward to warmer days...

Aye lovely indeed Kev. If mine is half as nice after twirling a spanner or six at it i'll be more than happy. Spent most of the day on this lost cause.

I spent my Sunday morning rekabobbulating this setup...

The lamps are LUCAS?

It looks as though you have the wrong tail light fitted to the correct bracket, which is a different setup to mine, as I have the uber rare oblong tail light

Lucas indicators are correct option though, as I see them fitted to lots of Eldo's. My indicators are cheap aftermarket mini indicators, which will be changed at some point to a more traditional 70's style, maybe from a Honda C90 cub.

They used that light on the later Loopframes and then on the early T bikes...

When fitting Gilardoni replacement cylinders and pistons, how long do you run it in for?

I had the small end bushings redone and the new wristpin matched up. The pin gently slid through the rod and piston.
The whole kit fit really well and slipped together nicely.

I'm just gonna fire it up and ride it.

I read some scuttlebutt that the Gilardoni rig was 10g. lighter than OEM.
I'm not sure if that's enough to unbalance.
