Your front brake hose should be routed to the inside of the fork leg. It's damage looking for a time to happen, the way you have it. Otherwise, that's a nice ride you have.

You have a good eye for detail. I'll fix that. Had the fork off recently being serviced and didn't notice that when I put it back together.

:D Marin makes very good stuff.

Generally speaking, Taiwanese fabricators are world class when it comes to bicycles. China and Taiwan are like polar opposites. Taiwan = decades of investment in the fab infrastructure. China = cheap factories run by monkeys.

The Jamis, being steel, will ride nicer than aluminum.

No not yet but wasn't really riding terrain where the suspension was using much travel. Had the seat post at full height as well.

If that is the seat post fully extended, maybe 29er's are just not for you..

As a rule you want to have your bars at the most level with your seat, if not lower..:deal

Thanks but I stand most of the time and I ride with the seat low on MTB.
29ers pretty much aren't for me but I was in Pemberton BC and wanted to hit the trails for the day so I rented what they had.

I've read a few discussions about them. What I took away was that you've only got so much "whoopass". Having more ways to apply that to driving yourself forward does not give you more power, just lets you spread the load over more body parts - either all together or at different times (like after your legs need a rest).

The drawback is the additional weight of the 2nd drivetrain.

    Here's some good reading:
