A couple of us are coming from Oklahoma, one from South Carolina, one from Nebraska and all the others are from Colorado.

I'm the only one riding a little kid bike every one else will be on F800's or 1200 GS or KTMs.... they tolerate my sissy bike tagging along.

Here is a pic of my new Wolfman Soft bags, i learned my lesson last year with hard luggage.

I hope to ride a similar path, maybe the same path, in a week or so if life doesn't get in the way.

But I do have a question, what lesson did you learn about hard luggage last year?

    sweet loop :thumb

knowing those roads a 650 thumper dual-sport would be even a better choice.
i'd say you'll do just fine.
bigger is better does NOT apply to the Colorado high country.

Yep.....I've done those roads and routes many times over the last 20 years on a lot of different bikes. You'll have a great time with your chosen mount and your picking a great time of year to do it! Be safe and have fun! :clap

We were going to do the COBDR but heard a big crowd would be on the trail headed to the KTM rally in Steamboat. So we made our on ride. Couple of us locals know the trails pretty well.

EAkins I know you're just down the road. Maybe we can ride together one of these days.

    Hey Guys,

Finally got my F800 put together. Replaced the upper shock bolt - yup, it was bent, but just a tiny little bit. Replaced it with the BestRest Products hardened bolt. Also replaced the stator. I figure they are all going out at 25 to 30 K and thought I would rather do the job in my shop at home rather than on top of Imogene Pass so bit the bullet and did it. Glad I did as the original looked absolutely, totally baked. It was still working and would have probably made the trip but, who knows.....at least now I know I have a decent stator for the next 25 K or so and a little piece of mind.

I'm headed out of Nebraska tomorrow (Friday) afternoon. I have to pick up a left side heated grip from Foothills BMW on Saturday morning, then off to rendezvous with you guys at Glenwood Springs.

    See ya soon,

    George

Headed out of Oklahoma City after work, stopped in Elk city for gas before hitting the back roads, and bike wouldn't start!

Figured the battery was bad, got a jump, went to Walmart, wrong battery, Autozone was closed, so checked into a cheap motel...

Just replaced battery, alt is charging, think i'm good to go!!!

Last week I was headed into Silverton and saw 3 GS1200 with hard bags headed up to Animas Forks. We went to town and ate at the cantina. Went back up over Engineer and headed down. Found the three guys spaced out tiptoeing through the rocks as we were on the throttle headed to Lake City for supplies for our supper.

You will be glad for the lighter bike on the 4X4 roads while your buds will wish the rocks would end!
