Do you use the rule of thirds grid display?
I do for stills, but most shots are on the go, just point and shoot.

Did this change into a "photo editing discussion" thread and they forgot to update the title?

Some folks seem to have the idea this is the ideal place to display photos of their bikes in ordinary settings - photos that wouldn't even fit into a dull ride report, let alone on the front page. Over 7500 posts that could realistically be culled down to fewer than 750 that actually fit the average viewer's idea of a front page photo.

We should go back to a "don't post your own pics, only those you've actually found on our page" rule. People would have to do more RR to post their pics and storys (wasn't this the original idea of ADVR anyway?).

    peace,

It still seems this picture is better than 3/4 of the ones in this thread. Its obvious he isnt riding a perfectly clean bike on a road 10 feet from the local starbucks....

Personally, I just also feel that "day trip" or just typical dirt bike day riding pictures dont fit into the spirit of an adventure touring site. While some may make for great pictures, the real reason why we are on this site is to see people who "ride the world"

Your question lacks clarity, and the photo in your post has nothing to do with me, so it is difficult to see your point. :dunno Some epic photos have appeared in this thread, but at least 90% (it seems) have virtually nothing to recommend them as front page material. Perhaps it is nothing more than vanity that causes people to nominate their own photos. It would seem that if their photos are noteworthy enough, other members will post them here.

Awesome photo!! I love how the road winds out of frame...
It makes you wonder where the road goes to, and that is the true spirit of ADVenture riding...

while I agree some... ok, many photos in this thread do not belong... I disagree about the "day trip" or dirt bike day photos... you can have an "adventure" in a day... some of us can't afford the time or the cost incurred in a venture to "ride the world" I think they still fit regardless of if it's a multi day trip or just a great photo that convey's the "spirit" of adventure.

    now back to the photos.

I used to know sport bikers that, for friday night adventures, would purposely get into 170 mph chases with cops.. doesnt mean they should be on adventure rider. There are sites for everyones specific interest. Its just happens this one is about adventure touring.. hence the banner at the top of the screen which reads "ride the world".. ADVrider was created to support the horizon-chasing adventure motorcycling community.

So to help this thread get back on track.. I cant help but nominate some photos of member HARTI, from his Take The Wrong Way Home ride report as he trekked from Washington DC to Germany. His latest updates are of Samarqand, Uzbekistan..
