I've had a death in the family so having to cancel. I had a room reserved for Thursday, Friday and Saturday that's available now for whoever calls the Marlinton Motor inn first. Hope to meet all you guys next year.

AT&T service works fine after you drop down the hill into Marlinton. They must have worked out some kind of deal with the FCC using low power/limited range towers so that you can get service in some of the communities around the quiet zone.

It's a pretty neat ride. When I went through there a few years ago, it had Plum Creek signage that told you you weren't supposed to be there. Similar to what I have been finding over in the South Cherry. Also, the road to the top of Gauley Mountain was supposed to be closed but the gate was open. Beautiful area.

In spite of being a huge mountain, the view from the top of Gauley Mountain is somewhat limited.
