2L pop bottles in the tank panniers also work for quick runs between gas stations and then you can ditch them.....just don't crash...
Rotopax on pillion seat plate. This is a 2-can set up that I normally carry 1 gal/water on top of the 1 gal/gas A second gas can could be substituted for the water if I ever needed that kind of range...or even another extender and a third gallon
heres my 06xr650l with a 7.2 gallon gas tank i made and another 2 gallon gas tank i made behind the rear sideplate.
heres a pic of my 031150gs with a custom 12 gallon main tank and a custom made 1.5 gallon reserve tank on the rear side.
Might help if we knew what type of bike you have. Sick looking XR there Kubiak. Acerbis 7.2g tank on a F650
I plan on putting another on the otherside...sincei don't go off-road with this bike its just for those days when you find yourself low and in the middle of nowhere...
thank you! when im just cruising on a trip i can get at least 120 miles out of the tank before she goes dry, so the extra is just enough to get me to a fill up station. the furthest im ever from a gas station is maybe 20 miles, so no need for me to go overboard with huge tanks. plus i can strap some goodies on the top
2gal rotopax on a custom side rack made by an ADV inmate (emerson.biguns), now more or less the same as what Wolfman sells. After upgrading to a IMS 3.1gal tank and doing several longer rides, I'm comfortable with just an extra half gallon most places with two MSR bottles. When I had a Kriega US-20, like this... Now they live in the right side enduro saddle bag for nearly all rides.
I didn't know what in the hell that was... so I googled it... not sure how my bike looks like that.... but the term 'steampunked' cracks me up everytime I say it.
I keep seeing pictures of bikes with milk crates on the back full of gas bottles, with people poking fun at them. Means I probably shouldn't post a pic of my Enfield doing the same thing.
