Here's my Bacchetta Giro ATT - it was built-up with a carbon fork, discs, dynobub and LED lights. The aim was to build one suitable for brevets....and then build myself up to the 600-km distance that's time-limited to 40 hours.

I enjoy Mark Leuck's "Life on a Baron" blogs. For an old guy, he get down the road pretty good. :evil

I did 100-km on Saturday. Keep in mind that I've only been riding mine for about six weeks and still don't have my recumbent legs where I want them to be. My average has increased 13% over April/early May's average mph which was on a similar bike w/ a steel frame. That's with 700 x 32 mm tires too.

My first brevet is in Nov. It'll be 200-km and include Yarnell Hill. I hope I don't die. :1drink

My last touring bike similar to that one was a King of Merican from the early/early 80's very much like this one. Truly a classic.

For those of you who have not ridden a recumbent, do you self a favor and DO IT! They really are a neat ride. I rode a short wheel, base low steering model. It was a blast! Especially when the road was twisty.

Try it, you will see why they have such a loyal following. If I wasn't towing a 3yo and chasing a 5yo I would own one.

I'm letting my 7 year old son make most of the choices. I was VERY nervous about doing that. But, he is making some really nice selections.

He's going old school on me...and he doesn't even know what that is...:lol3

We're going to do a lot of polished aluminum, some white and maybe a little bit of gold...

    Pictures will be forth coming.

Just quit smoking and getting back into the bike thing with the kids. I've had this one since I was 15, (11 years now), and I bought it used.

Do you guys think I should replace it or just upgrade this frame?

And this one was put together by inmate TopDeadCenter, swivel casters on the rear make this thing a nausea inducing machine.

top pic; nice. bottom pic; :huh

As far as your pacific goes, I'd clean it up & calibrate it, see how it runs. If you have to upgrade the frame you may as well replace the whole bike. I'd personally see if i could keep the frame and upgrade the components.

I have a friend who built something very similar. I thought it was a one off creation until now. There might be whole cult of these bikes out there.

That's what I meant, it works fine for the most part (derailers, brakes) but needs a new set of forks, the ones on it are frozen solid.

I was mainly wondering if this frame is worth keeping and upgrading the components on or if I should replace it all.

No, do not upgrade, the fact that the forks are frozen are perfect. Just ride it. If you think you need to upgrade it just put the money in a coffee can. After a couple years buy a bike from a bike shop.

The design came out of a book.

    Here's the authors website.

If you're gonna upgrade, upgrade. That Pacific wasn't anywhere near top of the line when it was new, now its even older.

I'd like to see a video of someone riding that bottom contraption.

There is some wild stuff in there. I wonder what came first, the book or my buddies trike, he built is almost 10 years ago.
