I took the ferry from Skagway to Haines. It was nice to try out the Alaska Marine Highway but I will look forward to getting back on my bike and being on my schedule and not someone elses

This is not what it looks like
It is nice to have friends like this. I am staying with my friend in Haines Alaska who seems to know everyone in town.. I have been here only 30 minutes and I have already met the town mayor! Gotta love small towns! And his house ROCKS!!! What a view!

Damn Ed just saw your report and as usual the wine is flowing..............I like the photos, but where is Barbie? No backpack with her riding along ? Glad to see that you are kind of staying dry but it will change since you can ride up north and go through 4 different season in one day. Keep doing the miles and have fun.

Are you planning on doing the Dempster or the Dalton? Plus Telegraph Creek is a great side trip out of Dease Lake on the Cassair Highway. Keep a good distance from the bears, they will not play fair !!!!!!!!!!!:eek1:lol3

Good to see that you have some tools with you.......

Stay safe, and have a fantastic time. Hopefully when you are back we can ride again in Baja like before.

Hello Ed, are you interested in a riding partner going into Mexico, South America and the rest of the trip. I live in California and would be willing to join the ride. Regards, Martin, F800GS

Everyone says that the bears up here are not friendly and they are NOT! I have been trying to pet them but they keep running away from me

Baja looks awesome! Getting some great ideas.

We are heading that way in September. We are currently in New York after having driven down from Alaska, across Canada and the US.

If you are up in Alaska you should definitely check out Denali. We didn't recon much of Fairbanks but headed up to Chena Hot springs maybe 50 miles North. The camping wasn't great, but was cheap at about 15 dollars a night.

    Some photos on the blog...

It rained the 150 miles all the way to Atiken Pass. And the mud made it a scary ride

Here is where I set up camp on the Bay. There were bear tracks right next to my tent and in the morning, I saw a Grissley about a half mile from this spot and heading my way
