Husaberg 70 Degree Owners Thread!

Maybe I could fit my updated 70 degree tank [still sitting in a box in the garage] at the same time. Gimme a jingle sometime.

Anybody who got this tank, do yourself a favor and before you start the install get a 90° 1/8 NPT to 6mm hose barb elbow (usually a couple of bucks on Ebay).




This goes in the right side rear vent hole so that you have the line pointing straight to the front and not up into the seat so that it has to make a sharp bend.

You can add it later but then you'll have to take off the rear subframe support brace again.

Got the tank on last night but nothing else. Have a gap between the battery box mount and the subframe tank. About a quarter of an inch. Not sure if that is normal or not. Stopped there for the night.

On a side. Got the trail tech map switch installed in about a minute in a half. Can definitely tell a difference. Bike still feels and sounds restricted from mid to high. Modified stock exhaust doesn't seem to be cutting it. A FMF can may be on order soon.

wide enough for my tyre levers and stand, i filled it with the contents of my us5 plus spare tube and a few other bits, will need to get a liner made up to make best use of the space. Should be able to carry a 2 litre fuel can in here if i wanted to.

I fitted a plastic barbed right angle piece used for car windscreen washers and sourced from any good auto store. Over two years with no problems, just use a short piece of joining tube between it and the tank.

Can you elaborate on the "joining tube"? My parts store didn't have anything in brass but I found a plastic fitting. Figured it would work since it is a vent line and shouldn't see liquid fuel very often. Just confused why you need a joining tube.

I used a small piece of the vent line supplied originally and then replaced all of the line about six months later with higher quality clear tubing that doesn't react to fuel, also bought from a car parts store. I did have to cut up to the first barb off of the right angle piece as it faces vertically towards the fuel tank just to ensure better clearance with the seat base.

i've got a pile of unused video footage of a few FE570 and FE450s. just thought i'd do something different and stick in everyone's comments about their FE390, 450 or 570.

obviously can't fit too much on the screen but if everyone's okay with it i'll just take bits of comments and use forum names as acknowledgment.

I just got my first Husaberg and I love it! It's a 2010 FE 390. First ride out was in some tight woods and she got hot and boiled the gas. Now I'm looking for a fan kit and some heat wrap for the mid pipe. What brand fan kit should I get? I'm also going to get the heat shielding for btm of tank and wrap midpipe with heat wrap tape. Anything else I am leaving out to help with the heat?

I used the KTM had parts fan. Make sure to use the lower temp thermostat switch that Pinevally linked to a couple of pages back. Triggers the fan to come on at a lower temp.

For not much more money you can get the mid pip ceramic coated. More durable than wrap and have always heard that the wrap holds moisture against the pipe and accelerates rust. Make sure to just do the mid pipe, not the header.

Take the gas cap off and remove the screws from the bottom. A half inch or so ball bearing will fall out. Throw that sucker in the parts bin. When the fuel boils it pushes the ball up and can cause vapor lock. When you drop your bike at an angle pick it up quickly as fuel will come out he vent hose now. I went ahead and removed the little locking mechanism with tabs from the cap. Mine was next to impossible to remove before hand. Don't have to push the button now to open the cap. Never had it loosen on me.

That factory silencer is pretty restrictive. 2 inch header going down to a half inch exit in the silencer. That causes quite a bit of heat build up. Have a scar on my wrist from the 2nd degree burn it gave me when new. Search for some of the exhaust mods or buy a new silencer.

Finally got the subframe tank installed. Kinda a pain getting everything lined up right. Thanks Lukas for the 90* elbow idea. Made everything more tidy.

He gave me a ADVrider discount. Just intact him for discount. I had broke my massive tail light and was tired of catching my tag on the tire. The bulb also kept coming loose and not working. His designing is much sleeker. Used the LED turn signal I already had.

Yes. The coating shop I went to did the inside and out. They recommended it also.

remeberthefallen..the bike is looking good.. when I get to CO I am going to put the HDB stuff on...pretty much just like yours.... you are my hero I'm such a copycat. I will also finally get around to mounting the Safari front tank.. i don't think I am going to buy the 70 degree rear tank until I am out there a bit and see if the Safari plus OEM tank will be enough.

I have previously had another bike header ceramic coated inside and out and the results were excellent.

I have been to the same ceramic coaters, who mainly do racing and drag racing motors etc for a quote on the Berg pipe.

I asked about the comment about only coating the mid pipe and he looked at me a bit strange and said where did that come from and couldn't understand why you would do that.

Can anyone give a 100% accurate reply why you would not coat the entire header pipe inside and out and not just the mid pipe?

well I dont think there is any 100% answer when it comes to the heat issues on the Berg's... but my understanding is that the midpipe is the part of the pipe that runs next to the OEM tank.. so it is therefore, the part of the exhaust system that is contributing to the gas boiling issues. So let the heat escape from the parts of the pipe that arent near the gas tank, by not coating them... if you coat the whole thing... you pass all that heat into the can,, which can have negative consequences as well.

I did both the header and mid pipe and my silencer temps went way up. No actual measurements but you could feel the heat. From what I understand from reading is that the coating prevents heat from escaping and dumps it all into the silencer. The silencer is very restrictive and stores that heat. An uncoated header allows heat to radiate out before it gets to the mid pipe and thus lower heat getting to the silencer. The issue we are trying to prevent is heat getting to the tank. I feel like either option would help but leaving the header uncoated a little cooler and is better for silencer. Maybe with a free flowing exhaust this wouldn't be an issues but my stock exhaust is far from free flowing. Have to remember that most of these drag cars have very high flow mufflers or no mufflers at all.
