I just watched this with Bobby Darin, "Beyond the Sea" playing in the background and it made so much sense. Maybe that's just me, but a person should try it out. It was splendid.

so, what is actually going on in this video?
it looks like some contest? do they have this in the states?

I believe its a Japanese Gymkhana event. They have them for motorcycles, and cars, the cars are more like autocross mixed with drifting, the bike events are time trials with certain obstacles to maneuver properly.
