100 mile race tomorrow, as stated earlier. In prep I'm heading to my neighbours for a barbecue with wine and beer. I'm super smart.

Took in some epic views and played a little hillbilly bowling at the top of the climb. We stopped for lunch in Lewiston and then started the climb out. That's when I blow'd up real good...several times. A few of us went into survival mode and did a little hike-a-bike from shady spot to shady spot. The Garmin indicated 110º. Everyone managed to make it without losing their lunch or passing out. So...win-win, I guess.

2:25 on the bike today. Including 2 x 2min over/unders. I was short :20 on the ride, but the way my legs felt after that second set of intervals, I don't mind. It took LOTS of willpower to even toodle home. I've been to Leadville. Even walking around is tough. Onya for actually racing up there! M
Thanks, Kev. It was a blast, as always. We rode down 112 through Colrain to 116. Roads that we take on the M/C's. A whole different perspective! Legs are a bit sore, but I'll be back out there Tuesday!
Good man. Me and Greg (and his GF) went on a trip to VT last weekend actually - we did a few notches and saw tons of cyclists. I totally agree , when you ride a cycle on the road, you see 'slight' inclines in a whole new light 104 miles for the weeks for me - first time in a while I've cracked 100 miles.
It feels good, doesn't it? In an excruciating kind of way! We went up some hills that were something like 2 miles uphill, and just when you think you are near the top, it goes up for another 1/2 mile!!! We did a hill in Mass, called West Leydon Rd. that was near vertical at one point! Totally kicked our butts... Can't wait to see where we're going on next years trip.
I don't know how to suffer like you guys. 0700 out the door and back at 0900. Leisurely pace for 29 miles. Just a modified version of my regular route, which consists on mostly flat riding with a few modest climbs giving a rather insignifican 400 feet of elevation gain over the first half of the route.
If it's saddle pain that bugs you when it comes to going longer, I just wrote a piece on my blog about that today... Now if it's the legs and/or lungs, you just gotta keep working at it. --Donnie
so the sun ringle zuzu BMX pin pedals I'd put on my last hybrid are in fact bent and damaged from the car crash that destroyed pretty much every other part of the bike. does anyone have a favorite brand of BMX pin pedals for my new hybrid? I like pedals that spin freely, and aren't too heavy, and of course, aren't too expensive (say, under $50 for a pair online...)
Truvative have some nice ones. Bit over $50, though. Had some of those Suns for a good number of years. Decent pedals. Can't stand bent spindles.
yeah, me either. hate having my foot squirm around a circle on each pedal stroke. the suns have cromoly spindles, they only bent slightly, but there's a chip out of the aluminum casting exposing the bearing seals, so as far as I'm concerned, they are toast. the FSA crank arms actually bent. the frame and wheels are twisted like a pretzel. these truvativs? http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?PartnerID=3370&ModelID=31556
