X2 Also check b tension, if it is too tight you will get some weird issues. A worn chain will not shift well either.
in my particular stage of life, personal projects move slow. I've like 20 of them going on simultaneously.

Why a single speed? I never quite understood the reasoning, besides weight reduction and reliability. Here in the hills of Pgh, it'd kick my arse to be on a single or fixie
I would just go and replace the hanger in that case. Aluminum doesn't like to be bent back and I'd worry about messing up the bolts and frame threads. And pick up a spare for next time.
I've ridden my geared bike as a SS. As long as you get the gear right, there's no problem. Trick is getting the gear right. My riding buddy did the Stupid (sp?) 50 on a SS. He didn't get the gear right and had to walk a bunch. M
What kind of bike is that? I miss my old BMX, but I'm not sure I could fold myself onto a 20 in wheeled bike again.
It's a big kids 26" cruiser from SE Racing. I had a 20" PK Ripper way back in the day so this just seemed fitting. *outfit not included*
There are lots of single speed bikes around here. I have a single speed mountain and a geared mountain bike. I think I am faster up hills and rolling single track on the single speed. Your whole mentality changes when on a single speed and you would be amazed what you can climb. It is not for everyone, but it is fun to have a single speed in the stable.
