I'm interested in the Alaska glove. I absolutely love my Dirt gloves which are size XXL. Does the Alaska have a similar fit? I also want them roomy enough for my heated liners that might add a half size to the mix. Please advise.
Ken - The fitting shape of the Dirt glove and the Alaska glove are quite similar. If you were going to wear the Alaska gloves without your heated liners, I would recommend the same size, XXL. Putting a glove liner on underneath will likely require you to go up one size to XYL. I have noticed the material used in the glove liners doesn't move smoothly against the liner of the glove and cause bunching if your (outer) glove is too snug. I just tested with my REV'IT! Tempest gloves and a Powerlet Heated glove liner and confirmed I would need to go up one size in order to accommodate the heated liner.
If I may interject. If your winter gloves are so snug that a liner does not fit then they may not work well for you in the cold. Unlike a race or summer glove a winter glove should not be so tight fitting. Something just a hair loose would keep you much warmer as the trapped air in the glove will circulate warm air produced by your own hand. Tight fitting gloves in the winter kill you two ways, one, no trapped air to keep you warm, two the tight glove cuts off circulation making you even colder.
Hi Ken, To confirm, XYL is REV'IT's abbreviation for 3XL. I guess it fits better on the hang tag than XXXL. In addition, XZL is their abbreviation for 4XL or XXXXL. Cheers, Ali
ADVBMR - The Dragon Jacket is still a current product with REV'IT! In their latest catalog, titled I am visible, the Dragon Jacket is pictured on page 54. New REV'IT! Spring collections typically launch in early Spring (mid February), so please keep checking in with us to see when the new products are released. Cheers, Ali
Hi, Im interested in the Rev'it Dragon jacket. Just not sure which layer is waterproof. I'm concerned the outer layer of the jacked will get soaked and eventhough I'll be dry, i'll be walking around with a jacket that's holding more water than a wet umbrella. And then I have to walk into classes and offices with that.. Cheers..
I've been riding in a Dragon jacket for over a year now with over 20k miles. The liner is water proof and it works well. The outer shell will soak up water if you spend time riding in a down poor. Jackets with waterproof liners are a compromise between ventilation and water proofing. Any jacket with a liner is subject to soaking the outer shell. You can treat it with something like Nikwax but if you are in hard rain long enough it will get soaked. The only other option is to go with a full waterproof shell. The prices really start getting steep. One of the best ones is going to be the Klim Latitude for $560. I have the big brother to that one called the Badlands. Rev'it makes the Everest GTX which is a very good jacket, but you will pay a smooth grand for that. What I have found is that for everyday riding, my Dragon is a great jacket at a very good price point. Call the guys at Revzilla and talk to them. They are all top notch and really know the products. Keep in mind if you buy Rev'it, it is a European cut (think skinny ass bicyclists) so make sure on your sizing.
Thanks for the prompt reply Walrus. When the outer layer gets soaked, does it take alot of time to dry up? I mean do you walk around with a the equivalent of a dripping sponge or a dripping umbrella? I'm torn between this setup and some other jacket with only a removable inner liner for thermal insulation, and for rain protection a separate suit that stays rolled up in the top box like this tour master suit.
It all depends on how much rain you are riding in. I rode home from work this morning in a thunderstorm. My jacket is hanging in the garage right now. It is a synthetic jacket so it will not drip all day long, but depending on how hard it rains will determine how wet it gets and how long it takes to dry. If your really worried about it you can get a Frog Togz suit cheap and keep it for heavy rain days. ANY jacket with a waterproof liner is going to get saturated if you ride in hard rain. Like I said, you can slow the process with products like NikWax, but eventually the shell will get saturated. That's the trade off you make to have the removable liners. Normally I ride with just the shell, and add the rain liner if I need it. You basically have three choices. Run the risk of a saturated jacket, or carry a rain over jacket, or go with a waterproof shell. The dragon jacket is comfortable and vents well when it starts getting warm. I like the hi-viz for commuting and I especially like that the dragon's pattern doesn't make your eye bleed! I now have a Gore Tex shell jacket. I literally received my Klim Badlands jacket in the mail two days ago. This will be my new "go to" jacket for everything but the worst part of summer. I live in Memphis and with our brutal summers, mesh is the only way to go. Bottom line is that there is no "perfect" jacket for all situations. All of them make certain compromises. From what you are wanting though, I would honestly recommend the Klim Latitude. You are going to spend about $300 more, but you will get a jacket that is very good at keeping you dry and has outstanding protection. You will have to layer up under it since it is just a shell, but I prefer that anyway. It gives you more control of how comfortable you are. Klim's quality is top notch and their customer service is outstanding and you won't have to worry about liners, rain suits, and soaked shells. I realize that's probably not what you wanted to hear, but if you ride a lot, you'll eventually come to the same conclusion. Just so you know, I don't work for Klim or for Revzilla. I'm a fireman in Memphis. You should give the guys at Revzilla a call. They really do know their stuff, and they can give you the good word on all their products. They may have some ideas that I haven't thought of.
Hi. I'am aiming on Rev'it Sand combo, and got nowhere close to try it out. I'am 6,4 by 225 regular. If it's of any help, I wear 34/34 jeans trausers. Can u say from your experience what sizes should i choose? Tnx a lot. ©
How come some dealers outside the USA are selling the Ignition 2 Jacket and Gear 2 Pants? Are these next years models and are they much better than the current model? When will Revzilla have these in stock?
Based off your measurements, I would recommend a XXL jacket and a XXL tall pant. As you may have already gathered, the REV'IT! brand runs Euro (as in small), so while you might typically be an XL in everything else, REV'IT! slimmer profile is going to require you to size up. Cheers, Ali Staffzilla
The Ignition 2 and Gear 2 are part of REV'IT!'s Spring 2012 collection and are not available yet. If they are being advertised early by dealers outside of the US, they are prematurely promoting a product that is not yet in stock. Typically, new REV'IT! collections start to show late February / early March. Cheers, Ali StaffZilla
Hi Folks, I am thinking of getting the Revit Defender GTX Jacket and pants. You mentioned in your videos on your website that there was an upgraded back protector and hip protectors that were available.. Is that the case and do you just replace the standard ones before you ship the jacket and pants....Also where is the closest place to Washington DC that I could look at the product....I know you have a place in Phili....but thats a haul since I am 60 miles south of DC....Thx
The Defender GTX takes the SaS-Tec Back Protector and SaS-Tec Hip pads. Please note the SaS-Tec Back Protector is size-specific for the Defender Jacket. Both armor upgrades are purchased separately, so when placing your order, be sure to check the SaS-Tec sizing chart for the proper size for your Defender Jacket. Hip pads are only one size. We can ship them along with your jacket and pants, but you install them. We ship REV'IT products across the US, but we only have one retail location here in Philadelphia. If you are unsure about size, I would be happy to make a recommendation. I've been fitting folks in REV'IT! gear for nearly 7 years. As for finish and quality, the Defender setup is top notch. Cheers, Ali
Beast Rider - Please let me know how you like your setup or if you have any additional questions. I'm happy to help. Cheers, Ali
