Dynos only tell part of the story anyways.

I guess the 3rd gear thing is just a very random thing and you never know if or when it will let go. Mine lasted 198,000 klm,s before it let go, but a new set of cases and a second hand gear set with 25,000 klm,s and things are good so far. Makes a hell of a noise in 3rd, especially with the bashplate, but original gear set was the same. It is a 05 now with 360,000 klm,s and still going strong. But next time i give it the once over i will replace the gears,198 is getting close again. Good thing about the DR is you can rebuild it over 1 weekend.

d606 vs trailwing tyre life - mostly bitumen, some dirt

A quick change of subject if I may, so we don't stress about that gear....

I normally run d606 front and rear. No worries with performance, but I would let to hear you experience on tyre wear please.

I usually get around 4000km from a rear. This isn't enough for my whole trip Perth to cairns, a bit over 5000km. Will a trailwing rear go further?

Otherwise I could get a new rear in Port Augusta or Broken hill maybe?

A front d606 should make it the whole way I suppose.

Your thoughts please?

No but they sure look sweet in person. They have custom painted tanks, custom rear guards, rims etc. You can get them in different configurations and the shop has an inhouse cafe, bookshop, clothes store etc.

I asked the guy to get his engineer to make me some pannier racks for the DR, he said that he could not beat USD$199 that Moto-sport were going to charge me???

Shhh! the store is owned by Action Suzuki - Wenthworth Ave
