Florida Sand Fleas

If you just found this place, welcome to the asylum. If you don't have a dualsport motorcycle, you are in the wrong thread. We ride around in the woods for the most part, alot of sandy stuff that requires knobs (or not, if you are a bit crazy.)

Come to the end of the thread and post up, its always good to meet new riders.

A few of the pics we have collected over the past 6 yrs or so:

I would recommend a DR650 or smaller Dual Sport if you want to ride with us. The 650 is pushing it, IMO. I am riding a DRZ 400s right now, its a good compromise for the terrain that includes Hwy and nasty sand and mud.

The Sand Fleas: That's a moniker sure to strike fear in the heart of old ladies everywhere.

Kuntz: I can do either (or both) days. I'll be camping at Juniper Springs.

Can't be the official thread, it doesn't say "Sand Fleas" anywhere.

I guess this could be the "official thread". Lets see if we can keep it going till were all too old to ride.

I would like to head North, and get away from all the whoops and quads. Lets hit some trails we have never ridden along the way. There has got to be more good stuff in the forest.

If we meet at Big Scrub then head north on 88 there is a shit ton of nice-looking roads that branch off 88. I've never ridden anywhere around that area (kinda near the gun range).

Moad? Did you catch a code? I hate codes, they give me a stuffy node.

Just got back from Bozeman. When I was there, some guy called me early in the morning to go to a Pink Floyd concert!

A lotta Obama stickers at the Bozeman Co-op. One gal had a shirt that said "The Only Bush I Trust is My Own".

Eeeewgh! I wanted to tell her that Obama is about to give her a hot wax full Brazilian.

Bozeman is now too big to be charming, too small to be urban. Target, HD, Lowes, all the Big Boxes are now there. First time I ever saw smog in the Gallatin Valley. Real estate is about to get hammered there. Or has already.

I had forgotten how much land there is to ride there, but I was not there to ride. Saw a few few small thumpers, nothing Orange, tho'. Almost ran over some unshaven hemp-wearing recumbent-bike riding twit on Main Street.

Still think a Monument Valley/Arizona trip would be nice.

Dec hookup

Fleas: we panhandler-Hooligans are making time to mix w/ the Tallahassee crowd at ANF in December. Eloy's posted interest in that-- i'd like to get alternate ideas together if that does not pan out. You central Fleas have anything scheduled for early December? Osceola? Ocala?

The Tally fellows are on top of some key land, and are central between the Fleas and us panhandlers. Wanna?

we have trailer possibilities to the east, and i'm willing to melt off some knobs slabbing for a good inmate turnout as far south as Ocala. Beyond that weekend time gets tight.

Discuss

The ANF thing is looking like it's back on track, so I'm in.

Any other Fleas going to this?

Anybody riding this Sunday @ ONF?

I've been to Monument Valley and I'm not sure that there is much to ride there except sandy Jeep trails, something to investigate though.

An Idaho trail ride in the high Rockies with some above tree line single track would be cool -- yea, in both ways!

Just to put it up again, I edited the first post in this thread to reflect where we are meeting up.

I went down and met up with BM, he seems to be recovering well but is experiencing some computer problems at this time. He is riding his XR again, and loaned me his VTR. My CRF doesnt know what to make of this now.

He called me to make sure I made it home OK. I had never ridden a sport bike before, and it is kind of strange. So I am getting some strange BM, its kind of fun. And it may require some light seat cleaning when you get it back.

BTW, I got to looking it over and arent these round things supposed to have teeth on them?
