um.........guys?!

Okay, so I went to change the oil on my like R100 and um ....

So what do I do now?!

Actually, I'm almost done with this engine block swap.
Except I can't find the freakin' spring clip that holds the oil intake screen in place.
Oh well, the part is still available from BMW for about $1.50 so I ordered a new one...

Oh, and I've only found one wrist pin cir-clip on the bench after my first rebuild! Cool huh?!

In mere days the bike will live again.

moo haaa haaa haaaaaa!

Cheers,
Jorge

i sure hope he put a new clutch in it. i've found placing them face down in oil to be a kinda bad idea.

Na, he'll just cook it off!

Actually the clutch disk is not in the picture. The clutch parts that are visible are all metal and have been cleaned with plenty of solvent.

Now that's a *proper* oil change. You must make sure every last molecule of old oil is out of the bike before adding new oil. Otherwise you may reduce the life expectancy of the bike by a full tenth of a mile.

Ya know, Fish guy has a good point.

The only thing worse than be'n short one wrist-pin cir-clip before assembly, is have'n one extra after assembly

Speakin' of those circlips, use new ones. I've unfortunatly discovered what happens when one breaks.

Man, I hate when this happens. It's usually after I miss a few doses of medication. Oh my.

7 Months later....

Holy Shit!
I actually did it. I got the beast back together!
After getting a real job in October I had to schedule my free time more carefully and the rebuild took a little longer than expected.
But it did go back together...in fact, it started right up, I rode it, turned it off, put it on a trailer and delivered it to Allied Van Lines for delivery back to New York. My freind reports that it's riding better than ever but that it feels gutless compared to his Adventure....go figure.
Hell, the wife even let me roll it into our spare room downstairs to work on it during the Oregon monsoon season...what a woman!
Okay now where is that R80g/s that's sitting in boxes in my basement...?!

Cheers,
Jorge
