ADVRIDER round the world mascot relay?
Now heres a thought. Be pretty cool if we bought a small mascot. Something like a stuffed toy etc (although it would have to be pretty tough) and then all ADV riders simply passed it on from one trip to the next trip to see how many places the mascot could go to. If this has already been done, please let me know the thread... Sort of a Relay like the olympic flame...
Couple of rules/guidelines.... - All people carrying the mascot must be an ADVrider.com member. - The mascot must ride by bike where possible. Obviously there may be a few plane/boat trips in there from country to country. - the riders must record how many K's the mascot has done during their part of the relay. - All ADV riders who carry the mascot must add there comments and photos to the ever growing trip report. - All photo's posted MUST include the mascot... just a tought. Anyone want to add something, any ideas???? I wonder if we could get it around the world and I wonder how many different hands it can be passed to.

Also maybe a limit on the # of miles each rider can carry the mascot may make it more interesting.

By passing on to another ADVrider member, do you mean personally handed off or sent by mail?
It would be great to hand it off personally and see where the mascot made it's transitions from country to country. Neat idea.

It would have to be personally handed to the next ADV rider. Actually, might have to include the photo of each exchange????
Be nice to be one of the names in the 'guiness book of records' entry of the 'most consecutive miles covered by a stuffed toy by motorcycle' category. I think a limit to the number of miles would be a good 'rule of thumb' but i would also imagine that some remote areas may need a longer ride than others. Be nice to log on each few days and see what the mascot has been up to.... Be a nice way for all ADV riders to be part of a 'RTW' trip without actually having to leave their own state... |

If you need any help in Michigan count me in.
I have never been a pig escort before. I will be able to cross it off the list.

Bacon update
I co-escorted Bacon into Sydney, Australia on Sunday afternoon.
My Pig Latin is a little rusty, but I'm sure I heard him say he wanted to get out of the top box and spend some time with some of the bronzed Aussie girls at Bondi Beach

I'd be happy to take Bacon through some of the Sierra Nevadas, as long as it's before the end of May. I'm getting a hip replacement on 5/29, which is the Thursday following the 49'er BMW rally in Auburn, but I'd be glad to take our little porcine friend along to that and get some snapshots of him with the large ADV contingent that shows up.

Let's not forget the lovely west coast!
I'll take him across the US border (pick him up say, Bellingham WA) and show him the Gulf Islands, Vancouver Island, and Vancouver proper. Winter Olympics are coming in less than 2 years - he should get aquainted with all the local goings on .... cm

Will Bacon come to Europe?
Should Bacon make it to Europe, I'll gladly offer him a ride. I'm living near the Black Forest.

Every thing has been moved to the proper topic at this moment so please keep all requests to take a ride with bacon, HERE in this topic and all remarks and accolades on bacons trip in the RR topic.
This account, I AM BACON will be passed on to each rider so that the ride reports and pictures will be easy to find. You can sign your name in the posts to show who was actually riding Bacon around, and you could put your inmate name in the subject line with something like Kilroy was here, current bacon escort, or anything else like that.
