Majesty 400 or Burgman 400?

What are your thoughts on which is a better scoot? And more importantly what MPG do you get!!!

Go do a search on burgmanusa.com and you'll find tons of posts comparing those two bikes. I own the 650, and have ridden the 400, but never rode the Majesty, so I can't compare them.

That depends on if you're talking about the pre-07 burgman or 07 and later burgmans. The Majesty beats the old Burgman but the new Burgman beats the Majesty.

Pre-07 Burgmans-very maintenance intensive (valve adjustments every 2500 miles), less power than Majesty, smaller trunk (I think).

)7 & 08 Burgmans-dual front brakes, better gas mileage (~10mpg better than Majesty), comparable engine power (upgraded to 400cc instead of old version's 385cc), largest trunk available in a scooter in the US

Good info for you above. I am slow to the uptake sometimes because of other website responsibilities (including BUSA).

The pre-08 "improved-remodeled" Burgman400 gave quite a few people fits with a belt squeel issue (seems to be almost exclusivley 2007 models). Also this squeel issue seemed to exclusivley happen on US-spec models. I did not discern any europeans voicing their concerns about their '07-issue 400s.

The Majesty is tried and true which, in my book, counts a bunch - the "new and improved" Burgman had that initial production "issue" but it seems as though that "problem" has now been mitigated.

My only advice is this - be very inquizitive about the "belt-squeel thing" if you are looking at pulling the trigger on a 2007 Burgman 400.

I really like the stats on the late model Suzukis versus the Yamahas. The longer wheelbase, the twin front disk brakes (now not linked-vs the linked single front disk pre-07), along with the more appropiate service intervals, and the lower seat height etc.

There is a website for the venerable Majesty - it is www.majestyusa.com. There is about a thousand registered users and over 20 thousand posts.

The headlamps on the little burger are now single lamp for low beam and both lamps for high beam (vs the pre-07).

Oh - fwiw - I don't like the looks of the pogo-stick rear shocks on the Yammi (vs mono-shock on the burg) either. (minutiae - I know)

I have always liked Yamahas, and, like a whole lot of ppl said - if you feel better on the maj and the dealer is better/closer - well - that counts for a LOT.

My .02c & hth.

The belt squeek sounds like an anoying problem. Does anybody know what they changed for 08 to fix the problem?
