640a + 625smc = !!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't quite know how I got to this place. It's a story too sorted to tell. A quick bio: 625SMC from the carb back. All done in the living room, by a noob. Thanx for this site and the almighty LC$ thread index! The bike hammers! We'll see for how long..........-B

The meat...

Nice tail/exhaust. Tell us more about it. It's not super loud, is it?

It's a wee bit loud. Not too bad with the quite inserts, though. The conversion was done with 98% OEM/hardparts. I had to modify 2 seat pans to make it work( tank back SMC/ front ADV). Otherwise it was a waiting game for all parts to show up, about 8mo total. Thanx to the guys @ktmhutt for helping me with this project. It's a different beast now. I'm glad to have it done.

Question

So what is the benefit of doing this? Simply to get a large, free breathing airbox?

BTW, it looks great and you did a great job!

Great looking paint and breathing kit. The rack mounted rubber grip is also innovative. But I thought SMCs have 5" rear rims and the wider SMC swing arm?!

cockpit

Pretty basic. gps and small Pelican case(1020series) mounted to a ram plate and arm. EXC master cylinder. Rtt steering damper w/ remote. High risers and currently mounted in the offset postion. This setup seems to have increased comfort over longer rides. -B
