Sorry for the delay in reporting. I've been searching high and low for that elusive cost efficient Briggs/Diahtsu.... and I just can't find it.
Going another route now. Found a fellow in the great white north (WI) that is into building small diesel tractors for tractor pulls. For me, he is taking a good running kubota 3cyl diesel and mating it with a performance IP to pull the base engines 21hp up to around 25-27hp with potential to go much further if I desire later. Trade off in going higher would be decrease in fuel millage. My goal is 100mpg even while still cruising at 70mph and the engine happy about it. Im not looking for a pocket rocket. Looking for a commuter w/kick ass millage and ability to Adventure it too. All that engine for a cost that is 2.5 times less than a new Briggs/Diahatsu and the research seems to show the Kubota is actually a smidgen lighter than the Briggs too. ![]() ![]()

Love the build and I am subscribed. I do have some questions. I may have overlooked. I see that you have the bike built.. Pretty much... My question is that of the transmission/gearbox. What's up with the cvt? And the learning curb what has not worked we'll. could you add some more pics of the specifics. I am seriously considering a very similar build. Thanks in advance

As the project actually gets underway, you guys please do fire away questions and comments in this thread. I'm assuming you guys will have plenty of questions, suggestions, comments etc. Don't want folk to feel like they have to join the Diesel Bike Board just to speak up.
Look forward to the upcoming conversations. |

Very interested to follow this one. Good luck with it. Should cost just a wee bit less than that Dutch diesel ADV bike I hope?
