Show us your pictures on "THE GREAT PLAINS"

"Great Plains"

of

North America

The words "Great Plains" mean different things to different people...For me they mean home...The place I start and finish most adventures....

I thought it appropriate to see what else their is to see on the "Great Plains" of

North America

Show us the pictures of what you've seen while riding this Vast Region.....................

"Its definitely not Fly-over Country"

North of Cambridge Nebraska along Medicine Creek.

Here's a couple to get this started...............

South of North Platte Nebraska

Enjoy the Ride...

The Great Plains are home for me, as well. They are quiet, open spaces:

A place where you can ride for miles without seeing another soul:

Spaces so vast, they make you feel very irrelevant in the scheme of things:

...where the landscape varies more than one would think:

It's the sunrises over the Flint Hills:

It's the sunsets over the High Plains:

Nice Shots!

I will have to obtain that book. When I was a child I lived in Moorhead MN, right across the Red River from Fargo ND. Can't get much more Great Plains than that. The nations breadbasket... Not only did I live there, but also learned to ride motorcycles there beginning at age 8. And got my first bike there. So much wide open space! It was a great place to be a kid on a bike. A friend and I could and did ride for literally 50+ miles all on back roads, farms roads - quite an exciting feat when that age. And oh man the wind! Right at the old 45 degree angle for miles and miles.

Thanks for pulling the ghosts up.

book on order........

I've driven across several times and alway look back wistfully at what I've missed and how infrequently I've been there....perhaps the book will fire me up and get me back out there and away from the ocean and latte bars......it better be good if I'm going to get any of my local friends to come along, however....Bruce

It's the same bridge that FifthCircle photoshopped his bike onto!

I think it's the Brewer Bridge south of Sparks, NE on the Niobrara River. It was originally built in 1898 but not at this location.

This thread is making me wish I had a decent camera. I was born and raised in the American plains and these photos do a great job showing just how peaceful and lonely these areas can be.

Some pictures from central North Dakota near the farm I grew up on:
