Question Single Wheel Trailer Thread.......

Looking at making/Buying one..
So far "single wheel today" etc
Homemade from pw80 frame ....any links appreciated

Rego requirements dictate that the trailer and hitch must be made by commercial manufacturer.
The dont make the Dauntless Uni-Trak anymore.......

Hey Mod's , move if you want.....

A lot of old stuff here.

I already tow a two-wheel trailer (with a solo) but have started on the design of a homebuilt single-wheeler. Incidentally, a single-wheeler works well with solos and leaning sidecars (or, the leaning tug really).

Frame (only) with trailing arm, or quarter-elliptic, suspension. Lighting, plate, mudguard, & cargo box NOT shown.

I prefer the vertical pivot of a universal joint (if in use) to be attached to the tow bike. This keeps the trailer upright even when its "jacked" near 90° to the bike. (That's not shown in those diagrams, but its just a quick paste-&-draw image.)

In QLD there is a registration requirement that the rear trailer lighting should be as w-i-d-e as the rear lighting on the tow bike.

Incidentally, Bandicoot Trailers have shown a Monocoot image on their website for a couple of years.

Monocoot - No Go Unfortunately

Bandicoot have abandoned plans to produce the Monocoot, citing rego difficulties across the states....

What you are working on is great,(if only in early stages)
I would prefer to buy from Aussie builder as Freight from O/seas kills the economics of the purchase....

Max. Length

Anyone know if there is a formula to calculate the maximum length of a single wheel trailer in relation to the wheelbase of the tow bike?

I'd like to build a trailer that can haul a mountain bike or surfboard. Kinda like a yakima rack n roll trailer. But obviously with a single wheel and lower wheelbase.

And on that note has anyone towed the rack and roll with their bike?
