South Western Ontario Riders

Hey everyone. I noticed in the one thread there was quite a few of us from the Windsor, Chatham, London, and Sarnia Area so I thought we should have our own corner.

To kick off this thread I am organizing a ride for all of us.

We can all meet at the Home Depot in Chatham and head to Grand Bend for a bite to eat and some stories.

Where: Home Depot in Chatham
When: July 3rd - 10:00AM for a 10:30 Departure
Route: Once we get to Wallaceburg we will take the St Clair parkway (Highway 33) which runs along the St. Clair River up to Sarnia. The we will take Lakeshore Road (Highway 7 and 21) to Grandbend with some detours along old lakeshore road.
Travel Distance: 156KM
Travel time: 2:00

If anybody has any good bits of track or routes they want to add I am all ears.

I would like you to RSVP as well so me and my brother in-law dont drive an hour to show up to an empty parking lot. I'm game for changing the start point if everyone is from one area. So lets see who is interested and get a good ride together!

Feel free to use this thread to talk about anything SWO

Most weekends I'm in Parkhill visiting my girlfriend. Not this weekend though. I'll keep an eye on this thread for future events.

A definite maybe!

Hi

Thanks for the idea. There is a good chance I can make it. Is the planned route all tarmac? If so, I vote we look for a little gravel. One of use will have a GPS to track a route if we find something interesting.

Sorry I missed it, I'm a little more damaged than we thought at first but I'll be ready for the next ride. Did you guys actually ride on the Ipperwash base??? I grew up right next door. I know a ton of people who've had their boats / bikes / money / alcohol "confiscated" by the new residents there. Big balls riding in there!
Coffee soon Junac.

Saw RUSH at Bayfest in Sarnia last night. Awesome awesome awesome. I see inbreeding and mullets are still popular in Sarnia. Great show, frightening crowd.

Sarnia to Niagra

Hey guy's,

I'm going to be traveling through Ontario over Easter weekend, 402 to 401 to Niagra. Maybe Toronto too. Anything I should know? Speed? Places to go or to avoid (restaurants, gas stations, etc,)
Also any recommendations for the Niagra area itself? Food, lodging, things to do and see(apart from the obvious).I'll be with the wife and adult daughters. Thanks in advance!

Matt

Hey Matt,

Don't think you need to be worried about being stranded on the 402 in a snow storm although we did have some pretty big flakes today. Depending where you're going first, T.O. or N.F. you could take 401, 403, QEW. Not a big fan of the big cities. You should be able to find anything you want on Younge St in Toronto. Girls will want to go to the Eaton's center. You could check out DualSport Plus in Stoney Creek Ontario. There's a restaurant that I've wanted to try on Lake Ontario as your driving on the QEW towards Niagara Falls from Hamilton area. I think it's a Seafood joint. It's always jammed. You might want to ask the guys on the GTA thread for more info. Have fun. Be sure to leave the piece at home.

Matt,

it would appear you're crossing the border in Port Huron/Sarnia. A few ideas...
The Crystal Bar in Port Huron is a great lunch spot. It's a 1950s bar with amazing food and family friendly.
The french fry trucks under the bridge on the Canadian side have the best fries on the planet. Seriously.
Right after you leave the Bluewater Bridge onto the 402, the speed limit drops drastically. It is a speedtrap and locals have been complaining to government to have it changed, but keep your speed WAY down for the first five minutes after the bridge.
The OPP have a big 'traffic safety initiative' running at the moment. Anticipate aggressive enforcement on all the highways. Set your cruise at 120 km/h and nobody will even notice you.
There isn't much in the way of gas, food, or coffee between Sarnia and London.
Baton Rouge steak house in Niagara Falls is yummy. Like JUNAC said, the girls will probably want to hit EATON mall.

Thanks for the info! Not only do I have to leave the piece home, my radar detector's gotta stay home too. Speed trap tips are appreciated
I've been to the Crystal Bar.....Chicken in the Rough......

Edit: I just checked out DSP's website. Cool! Crap, they're closed holiday weekends!
Is Easter a Canadian holiday too?! LOL!
