Ural 650 alternator solution?

I was told by a "source" that there is a supplier in Oregon who sells replacement alternators with the cush drive for the older 650cc Ural's, anybody heard of this?

It's not just Oregon. Any Ural Dealer can supply a current generation of the Cush Drive Nippon Denso Alternator used by Ural. They retrofit to the 650 just fine.

There`s a small wiring mod to do,though.

They also cost a King`s Ransom.....abot $600 or just over £400 here.

You can also fit the cheaper L424 alternator.....lower output but copes fine with a stock bike.

From what i was told there is a supplier that has a lower cost alternative to the dealer $500 solution, starting to think Deep cell, alternator eliminator might not be a bad idea?

I thought about doing the same thing except with a magneto. It'd be smaller and you wouldn't need a battery to kick start it in an emergency!
