Texas Adventure Riders check in here

Howdy,

Okay, so I poked around and the closest thing I could find to a thread where Texas riders can all find each other is the NAG thread, which is mostly Austinites. I know for a fact that there are tons of riders in other places! So if you live in Texas and post here, how about posting up so we have a way of contacting everyone. This way we can do a better job of getting out the word for Statewide stuff like trips to Big Bend, dirt riding in East Texas, etc,...

I'm Scott and I live in Huntsville. I ride an R1150GS and I have a problem...

Adios,

Andy from Seguin here. Originally from Wisconsin, been here about a year. Daily rider is a Concours, also have KLR650, Buell S2, Beta trials. Always interested in a ride. A few pictures from my rides on a lame website here: www.tiegs.com
Texas definitely deserves its' own forum.

I don't live in TX, but do pass through there at least once or twice a month.

Would you guys be interested in planning a ride in the Big Bend area?

Do we have to get up before noon?

Wait, I think I know the answer to that question!

Hmmm, I guess I better find out when first light is.

I live South of Houston. I love trips to the hill country or big bend area. Put something together for the Texas Riders and I am there, 'cept sometimes I have to work. I have an 1150GS now; but lusting for the F650 Dakar. Several folks from work are planning to ride part of the Trans-American Trail in April. We plan to do Arkansas East to West. I am hoping to have the F650 by then, or I might just do it on the 1150. Anyway, thanks for posting this to bring us Adv-Texans together.

I'm checking in from San Marcos. My new KLR has 13 miles on it and I need to break that puppy in. I'll be looking to do some Hill Country riding soon enough. Maybe even head over to East Texas (Huntsville area) to visit family and do some National Forest riding. Planning a trip to Mexico in March, another to Big Bend when I can get away.

Hello from San Marcos. I have a spankin' new F650GS and have been riding around the Hillcountry. There are a lot of cool backroads between San Marcos, Wimberly, Driftwood, and Kyle. Around here, you don't have to go far to have fun. A few good barbecue places too (like the Salt Lick)...

Cycliac,

First, watch out for Zapp22. He's bad news with his knobbies and all the farkles on his WeeStrom.

Second, I think Gore-TX moved back to France a couple of years ago.

Finally, I guess I could ride with a BMer. I'm open to diversity. Really, I don't mind.

Zapp22 and I get together every so often for excursions here and there. There's a chiropractor in town too who rides a WeeStrom, though we may have lost track of him. He's not on AdvRider. And, there's another new kid on the block too...former student of mine over in Seguin. He just picked up a Weestrom and wants the old guys to show him a thing or two. And, there's AndyT over in Seguin who recently got back from a KLR ride to the end of S. America. His butt may be too worn out though.

When the weather's nice Zapp22 and I start looking in this thread come about Wednesday or so for rides (although I think he lives here in AdvRider). Sometimes we throw a ride together last minute by cell phone. You can find me at 512 665-1681.

I have one of those really cushy, low-paying, highly flexible univ. professor schedules, so a Friday afternoon coming up might be good. In fact, this Friday might be good, though I have to check in with the ex to see where my kids'll be Friday since it's spring break here.
