According to HFL the new V-Strom will be unveiled on June 11.

It'll go bigger because everyone else is doing it.

Of course, people are going bigger too, so it balances out, except for the obvious MPG hit.

Wot, they're keeping us waiting 9 whole days for the bike to be revealed! Not very long for everyone to work themselves into a frenzy, is it?!

From the linked article:
"The only question is: which dead racist will they name it after this time?"

Huh? Where do they get a connection between V-Strom and a "dead racist"? Why pointlessly play that card?

Think that was a reference to Strom Thurmond.

I just sold/bought another Wee. What shocked me is how much used prices had gone up. Bought a used 08 a year ago with 10k miles in London fully loaded for 3250 and sold it a couple of weeks ago within 24 hours for 3200 with 20k miles. It sold quickly as most bikes were advertised around the 4k mark. Almost no depreciation and if I would have been patient I would have been able to sell it for a profit.

Then I bought another 09 Wee in Perth, Australia for $7500 with 8k km. I was offered a brand new 11 for $8990 but that was in South Australia and needed delivering, which adds $800. The only reason why I went for the used one is that in Perth new bikes are $1000 more than in the rest of Australia.

Now... My point. If the all new Wee would have been $10k I would have bought that as in increase of $2k over a used/ older version bike is reasonable.

I need a bike for commuting but couldn't wait to find out when exactly they are going to release the new bike. If they would have given me a "available from" date I could have waited but this marketing campaign is so useless all we know is that "one day in July" we will know more about the new Wee. It might not be sold until "Spring 2012".

They could have at least released some facts about the bike like " all improved range, suspension and low range torque" so that we know at least a little bit more than that up close it looks like a motorcycle.

Apple tell you 6 months in advance when they are going to release a new product so that you don't buy a competitors product in the meantime.

Now that is clever. Consumers plan their spending around the product life cycle and can sell the "obsolete product" or save for the new one in anticipation of the new one.

I am happy about the fact that Suzuki seem to be spending their cash on developing reliable engines rather than a decent marketing department.

Reminds me of those really bad home made used car sales ads on channel 43 in the US of A.

"Hi, I am Chuck Mitchell, from Mitchell Suzuki and today I am going to make you an offer you can resist! Tune in next week to find out more!!"

Good point

But on the other hand, they seem to have saved so much, you'd think that they'd be a technological tour de force by now.

Come on! Someone had to turn it around
