76cx / 78sc differences ?
What's the difference ? Is one unit better than the other for bike use ?
It seems Garmin changes specifications about every 2 weeks. It's hard to keep up.... Outwardbound screwed with this post 04-24-2012 at 06:04 AM |

20 saved tracks for 76, 200 for 78 500 track points/track for 76, 2000 points/track for 78 76 does not mess with On/Off or color of tracks, 78 turns all tracks Off and makes them "its" color when you download to it. 76 is MapSource "friendly" to load tracks, with 78 best to just use Explorer to copy .gpx filesto it. Other than track point volume, not a lot of difference except price. Love your best ride, we thank you!

The 76cx is a much better unit than the older one without the x in the model ID. It has a better receiver.

And the 78SC has a camera, to boot. The SC has far better map handling than the 76, wireless transfer to compatible units, is faster, and has a real compass, and Barometric Altimeter.

http://gpsinformation.info/penrod/62S/62-78.html The extra 1.7 GB internal memory for map storage is a plus on the 78sc. daryl |

It depends on if you want to pay for-west marine was selling 76cx for $150 +tax/shipping.If the 78sc is a current garmin model it will sell for more.I got the 76cx because it was cheap and it seems to be 1 of the standard units when I show up at the download table at dual sport rides.
