Thumb Overland EXPO2012 May 18th to 20th

I went to this event last year and it rocked !! Near Flagstaff AZ. Lots of travelers, cool authors of adventure travel and a wonderful film festival hosted by Vince Austin and Lois Pryce We are going again this year

I'm not sure if Roseann Hanson (the person responsible for the creation of the Overland Expo) is taking hers up this year or not (she's too busy to ride during the event) . . . but she appreciates fellow air-heads.

I'll have my 800gs in tow (why try to live off of a bike when I can take the camper & have cold beer???). Not sure what my schedule will be yet (teaching a few classes again) - but I'll be one of the hundreds of people wandering around the Moto-village.

R80 GS or F800?

I know Roseann has an R80G/S. I hope to see it there. I also own an R80 G/S-PD, but it is a garage queen - for now.
I ride my R100 GS/PDs mostly & the DR350 (it's so fun!). Is yours an R80 or F800? I'll look for you & what classes??

Mine's an F800. It's the yellow Overland Journal project that's been at the last couple events.

I usually teach some of the riding and motorcycle recovery classes (usually work with Tom Collins - who is working the Camel Trophy area this year - along with a dozen or so other ex-CT drivers) - but Jim Hyde is taking over all the motorcycle stuff this year, so I don't know if I'll be doing any moto stuff or not. Early planning had me helping out there - but in all honesty, he has a superbly qualified staff that teach this stuff week in and week out, so he may just stick with his own crew.

Other than that, I've got a couple of advanced 4wd classes that I'm working, and I'll be going along on a couple of moto rides to get a bit of film for Roseann & Jonathan, and generally just hanging out.

Idea clan looks to be there all three days.
Not quite committed due to kids in school. We probably wont tell them until the morning we leave.
They have this thing about going to school...
Meeting Austin Vince should tip the scale.

Austin's freekin' nutty - but hey, he lives on a barge, makes his own clothes, & rides motorcycles around the world for a living - what's not to like?

If he can't tip the scale far enough by himself, add Gaurav Jani, Ted Simon, Chris Scott, & a few others to the scale.

We will see all you folks there. I am flying into Phoenix on May 16th, my husband will pick me up and we will head out. He leaves this Sunday as he is riding from home. ( Ontario Canada) picking me up at the Airport and then we will find our way out of the city to Flagstaff.
Cheers
