Hacks that steer bike?

First post in Hacks for me. My curiosity is getting the better of me....

Last year at Sturgis on a road in the middle of nowhere, this hack is coming right at me and there wasn't a rider on the bike, a guy was just sitting in the sidecar. There was a wheel chair strapped on the back. Is this a normal thing for hacks or was this a specially made rig? Thanks in advance AND I tried a search first but couldn't come up with any posts. Thanks!!! If it is normal, please list the manufacturer so I can get smarter on this subject.

So, was 55 your popping out year?

I have driven mine from the chair, but all my controls are on the bikes bars.

Sorry, no link but in case anyone is looking for one, I just saw a 80s Yamaha Venture set up like that at Arkport Cycles in NY. It is between their used bikes with no price listed. Looked a bit rough.

We have built a few of these, They are always one off. We are working on one at this time with power steering and power brakes. We also have an old Tomco sidecar for a CB750A here that is very crude and is free to any one with a real need for it.

If you make the handlebars long enough --- the steering can become a communal affair.

"So, Mikhale is steering?"
"Yep!"
"Who's on the gear-change?"
"Yep!"
"What?"
"No - not What, he's on the brake. Whos on the gear-change and we're in First Gear. So Whos on First."
