V-strom 650 or NT700V?

See a few of these for sale, used, wondering which I should get? I realize their differences like the Honda is pavement only but I really like its integrated storage and shaft drive. But I think the Weestrom has more power and is maybe lighter?

I imagine I can't go wrong with either but was just looking for opinions from anyone who's had either.

I haven't had a DL650 or an NT700V, but I have had lots of opinions!

Depends on how you are going to use it. For me, it would be the Honda.

Why not consider the Honda NC700X? Some dealers here are bitten by the good quality and over-demand for this bike. They cannot sell their Vstroms nor NTs after this one came out.
95% road, 5% dirt.

also comes with DCT if needed.

Ok then let's hear your opinions! Also for the Vstrom do I want the ABS model? I know it can't turn off, so on dirt not so good. But for the 95% pavement riding of reality it would be good to have.

700X is pretty cool but I'm trying to avoid a new bike.

I agree with my Wee ABS not being able to be turned off with a switch... but the fuse is under the seat so its an easy solution. plus if you've ridden super slab to get to the off road, you'll wanna stop anyways to adjust air pressure in your tires... so not a big deal breaker for me..

Off road the Wee is not as capable compared to many other choices... so wont get into debates there...

decision depends on your main use...

Wee's are good bikes and as most bikes they have their weaknesses

I'm having the same problem deciding between the wee and the NC700x. There are so many things to like about the wee and it's pretty well bullet proof but for some reason I can't quit thinking about the Honda.

I haven't been able to get rid of the windscreen buffeting on my Wee. This seems to be common for riders over 70" tall or so. It really gets to me after a couple hundred miles.

From what I've read, if you are over 5'11", the Honda's ergos are cramped for any long distance riding.

I actually own a Wee.....

....and if you do NOT go off road, then buy the Honda NT700v with the integrated bags and the shaft drive.

It is a very user friendly and easy to run machine.

Low cost, no chain to fool with, lower seat height, lockable storage, great fuel economy, just buy it.

If you don't like it, sell it, you won't lose much.

Don't over think a motorcycle, go with your gut. They are NOT logical decisions.

FWIW, I love my Wee, but I have spent a lot of money on windscreens, chain oiler, seat, shock, fork springs, and more to customize her to suit ME.

If the Honda fits YOU and YOU like it, then BUY IT and start enjoying life NOW.

Whatever you are going to do, DO IT NOW.

We could all die this afternoon.

Get busy living, or get busy dying.

I went with the 2012 VStrom 650. I really couldn't give you a firm list of reasons why you should choose it over the Honda. I suppose I just wanted a BMW F800ST, and the VStrom was basically that at a significant discount.



These are the stock tires with a solid 50 PSI in each. I didn't really expect to be off the slab and onto anything worse than gravel. The bike performed very well.

you should run the pressure suggested by your bikes manufacturer. 50psi sounds extremely high, and has no benefit...unless you consider wearing out the center rib faster and having more potential for blow-outs or flats a benefit. if you are reading the max psi on the tire itself, thats max pressure for maximum load bearing...if you were two up and loaded down with a lot of gear.

im sure you know this already though, so why 50psi? btw, badass photo
