electronic rubber covers for USB accessories
I am looking for suitable covers for a variety of electronic accessories on my bike such as mini USB and micro USB. I would like to have a flip cover that houses the male end of the USB in it. I went in search of something like this today and could not find anything suitable at radioshack, microcenter etc... Even searching online yielded little information (perhaps due to poor searching techniques. Anyone have any suggestions?

Not sure this will help.....
I keep a RAM mount, charger, and cable on my bike for my phone. I had to replace the cable often because the micro USB would die if it got wet. I put a short piece of rubber hose on the RAM mount, with the top end squeezed under a screw. Push the usb cable up in the bottom end of the hose. Not more bad cable ends. |

Go to an auto parts store and get "vacuum" port caps". They come in several sizes. Take what you want to cover with you and you can make sure you're getting the size you need.

I have seen the caps that they have and was worried about water seeping around as well as just losing them so ideally a system that is on the wire, has a flip cap and can be closed would be great.

I will go for one of this...
![]() http://burnsmoto.com/waterproof-usb-...anel-mount.php The USB cable will fit in a pocket easily when not in use... I think the manufacturer is a vendor here...

![]() And... ![]() ![]() ![]() But just curious... What kind of gadget will you need to charge even under rain?... I needed one of these for my 'City' GPS... As I'm not a CEO at Coca Cola, I can't afford a Zumo or something like that... I have a Nuvi 710 for city commutes... I also have a RAM Aquabox for the Nuvi in case of an emergency or a Garmin Oregon (For my off tarmac trips)...

I am running a Garmin Nuvi hooked up in a Touratech lockable mount and will only charge it when needed but I would like to DC the mini USB and have a cover to protect the male end. These prefabbed systems are great but are not applicable as I already stated it will need to house it and be capable of sliding down the cable to expose the 90 degree mini USB male end. Posting picture shortly.

Yes, that's what's happened to me... I already burnt 3 garmin chargers...
That's why I ordered the burnsmoto charger. I will 'feed' the GPS through this charger via an ordinary USB cable, and in case of rain, I will remove the cable... And if I still need the GPS, I will put it in the Aquabox. Or I will use the Oregon...
