de Havilland Mosquito
Ok...not a motorcycle but what bike guy doesn't like WW2 planes.
This one has been rebuilt in Auckland New Zealand for an American owner. It flew today for the second time. Apologies for poor photos...taken with my click and go Sony... ![]() The sound of two Rolls Royce engines only metres above your head was awesome. I understand the last one to fly was 15 years ago. ![]() ![]() ![]()

You luck bum...
![]() You those with an interest in HDH ... There are 4 mozzies at http://www.dehavillandmuseum.co.uk/ Yep that is the original location where mozzies were developed, they even have a prototype there.. Reports of the possibility of buying a mozzie for $15,000 at the end of the war ... in Canada, you then had the problem of getting it home? About $5,000 to the uk. "It makes me furious when I see the Mosquito. I turn green and yellow with envy. The British, who can afford aluminum better than we can, knock together a beautiful wooden aircraft that every piano factory over there is building, and they give it a speed which they have now increased yet again. What do you make of that? There is nothing the British do not have. They have the geniuses and we have the nincompoops. After the war is over I’m going to buy a British radio set – then at least I’ll own something that has always worked".

saw the mosquito on the news the last few days as they talked about getting it finished. amazing project! must have been magic to hear that thing fly at the air show yesterday. meanwhile, the spitfire apparently had to do a belly-landing. glad to hear it was a replica and not the genuine article, but still, ouch! |
