Hi guys!

This is my first post in this forum, so I want introduce myself.
Iím Joe Pichler from Austria, Iíve been riding on different bikes 300.000 km around the world.

In three weeks Iíll start with the new KTM 1190 Adventure R to a trip in Africa.
Today Iíve been riding the first 250 km with the brand new bike and then I started to fit the bike for the trip.

Next week I'll change the tyres to Scorpion Rally and then the African adventure is starting.

Joe! Omg omg omg! Tell us about the bike!

Apparently you haven't heard, according to all the "experts" in the 1190 thread, the bike is completely incapable of going anywhere without bottoming out and exploding!

I want to see LOTS of pics! LOTS of info on how you like the bike, how it handles, how it works on gravel, etc. and LOTS of info on what mods you make to the bike! Oh, and pics of your trip too!

Awesome!

Welcome to AdvRider Joe!
After the LWR fiasco, KTM has finally figured out what the good marketing is all about, it was about time. Good luck with your trip, keep us apraised with the good, bad and the ugly and post a lot of pictures. What are you going to do about the poor gas in Africa, do you have a custom fuel and ignition map to deal with that?
Other than that, I'm in.

You definitely cannot compare LWR and my trip.
LWR was a real marketing trip with a lot of support and money involved.
On my trip to Africa, there are no support cars, camera guys etc. on the way.
Iíll be riding the first part with a friend from Addis Abeba, then alone and the last part with my wife Renate on the back.
But still I'll try to give you as much backup as possible from the trip.
And will send you plenty of pictures.

In the offroad modus you can switch the 1190 to a bad fuel maping.
