Raptor 660 motor in kx500 frame.
I Ride a 2010 klx 250. I really like the bike I just need a play bikeso im not crashing this one all time when i go trail riding with the wheelers. Through some trading I acquired 1984KdX 200 and KX 500 minus engine. I put the 200 motor in and the pipes modded and carb hooked up. I was thinking to ride this around on the trails. I can plate any dirtbike in vt. I used to have an 85 yamaha tt600 loved that bikes power but at 155 lbs kickin a big 6 gets old pretty quick in slick conditions. Getting to my point I was thinking about a raptor 660 motor in my kx frame how that would make a pretty sweet do all bike. Imagine getting to a tree down and u just reach down click in to reverse and back up. Those motors r pretty reliable after the early tranny upgrades.

Has any one heard of this. I'm a machinist and fabricator so that's not an issue

I would think that there are better candidates then the 660 unless you already have that motor.
01 660’s had known trany problems.

I can't think of another 600cc + electric start four stroke and after the tranny fix the raptors seemed to hold up ok.

I remember looking at that motor when I was going to swap a motor into a YZ450 frame I had built up. It was a huge and tall motor, def not going to fit into a frame designed for a 2T. I have a KX500 frame in my garage and I just can't see it happening reasonably. There's lots of unreasonable and expensive and time consuming ways to make anything happen, that's what machinists are for
![]() The MZ used a 660 yamaha motor, see if you can visualize this in a kx frame cause I can't see it. Maybe if you butchered the frame but by that time you might as well start with a custom frame.

Is the Raptor motor a Twin? Why is this thread in Beasts and not in Thumpers?
