Inheritance car surprised me - Buick Lacrosse

My father recently passed. He left me his estate, which included a 2010 Buick Lacrosse with 4k miles. My initial thought was that I would sell or trade it for something more my style. However, I missed dad and have been driving the car for sentimental reasons. To be honest, I soured on GM vehicles about 20 years ago and was sure I would not like this car. I was wrong.

Well, I will be the first to admit my initial impressions about this car were wrong. It is awesome; fast, comfortable, loaded with technology and very efficient. I am definitely keeping this car and proclaiming that GM is back in the game. If you are in the market for a sedan in the $30 -$40k range, and you think American manufacturers do not have anything to offer, just go drive the Lacrosse.

Well, I guess this proves their ad campaign wrong.

This really is your father's Buick!

I inherited a mid-70's Ford Granada from my dad...don't even get me started.

Say what you will but it made a bitchin' stock car! I raced one for 8 years on a 1/4 mile oval...I miss it. Stripped of the ugly brik brak it was actually a decent looking vehicle.

Nice La Crosse. Similarly, my dad passed and I bought his Harley from the estate. I intended to kee it for a short time and sell it. I mean it IS a Harley right? But I...umm...kind of ..like riding it. Sometimes those old farts know a thing or two.

I believe the "your father's [insert brand here]" was Oldsmobile.

They turn heads, but these days most of those heads don't know it's a Buick.

The Chinese market has resurrected the brand.

Totally agree GM (and particularly Buick) is back in The Game. The cars are particularly competent.

I just hope it's not too late....

Sorry for your loss, too.

I was somewhat gobsmacked the other day when I discovered the car I was admiring was a Buick Regal GS. My dad drove Buicks as well and got a few "hand me downs." It's always been my favorite GM brand.

I test drove the new Regal T Type, and found myself really liking it.

I drove a new GS and it was a nice car, quiet solid ride and decent handling due in part to huge tires. I really liked the interior too.

Many here remember the GS heritage I am sure and in that regard it did not really live up. 2.0t is a decent setup but lag and gearing made it feel pretty sluggish. C/D said it best - it may make 280hp at 5500 rpm but at 5499 and 5501 it's more like 200. That's about what it felt like. Nice car though.

In the end I bought a '12 Mustang GT!

OP, sorry about your dad.
