Dakar Bikes Collection...

Honda won the Dakar 4 times in a row, 86-89 with NXR750. It was a total prototype with a 4 valve engine and 6 speed gearbox.The AT's and TA's were marketed as replicas of the Dakar bikes but of course they had very little in common. here's some photos of it;

It was kind of a two stroke. It was an "active radical combustion" engine, if I recall.

Was "active radical combustion" similar to the direct injection of the Bimota V-due?

What happened to the comeback? Was this engine ever used for anything else?

That would be the EXP2, a 400cc two stroke prototype made to be as low emmissions as a comparable displacement 4 cycle, it was heavy, unreliable, and slow, and didn;t pan out as Honda wished. Mostly die to 4 stroke development and the 4 cycle motors getting lighter and more HP I hear.
