Noob Questions 2720?

I'm new to GPS's, and I have read the stickies, so bare with me.

I'm planning a trip from Toronto to Tuscon on my Mapsource.

I've broken the trip up so the routes are saved on each state. When I cross the state border I would pull up the route for that state and so on. Is that the right way to do it? Is there a better way?

Will the entire US and Canada fit on the 2720?

Thanks

First off, the 2720 comes pre-loaded with the entire US on it so you shouldn't have to worry about adding maps to it? I don't recall if Canada is part of that too, but my current City Nav 2009.1 shows map chunks for Canada, so I'm assuming yes. You might just want to manually navigate up there and verify first though.

It doesn't really matter how you break the routes up. States could work okay. I think breaking your routes up by day is easiest if you have your stops pre-determined. That way you know how far it is to your destination that night. If you are just going with the flow, just break it down into various similar sized routes. Maybe 3-500 miles each? The biggest thing is not exceeding the number of routes your GPS supports or exceed the way points you use in each route. Keep in mind waypoints are specific points you predefined before making the route and just used them as a guide. Via points are created when you use the route tool and just drag it to a certain road. That creates a via point and the limit for those is much higher. I doubt you'll exceed that limit.
