Garmin TOPO U.S. 24K West

Has anyone had experience with the Garmin TOPO U.S. 24K West mapset (or other 24K mapsets in this series)? I'll be using it on a 60CSx upgraded to v.3.9 firmware. I'd appreciate any impressions/issues, etc.

I have City Navigator NT 2009, 2008 US Topo and the National Parks 24K West version 3. The topo series will provide more dirt road and trail information along with the elevation data. The US Topo will not autoroute which is a major screw up as far as I am concerned. The 24K series will autoroute, even on trails, but only within the areas where the topographic data is provided. All that means is you may have to make seperate routes for areas inside and outside the 24K map coverage area.

Mapsource works well enough selecting map sections to upload to the GPS. You can select a route, right click on the route and "Select Maps Around Route" or select maps manually with the Map Tool.

It's not the best system but after you figure out all the quirks it's better than not having Topo data or the additional off street information. YMMV
