Do you regret it, was it worth the cost savings?

I know im talking to a biased bunch of enthusiasts here, but what the hell... sell me on it
$1000 price difference is huge for a $5000 bike. I certainly don't regret getting the KLX; I love it.. If I'd paid $6000 for a WR, I'd probably have permanent buyer's remorse knowing I could've gotten a KLX for $1000 less.

~ a 1100 dollars will take this bike a long way.

jet kit $60
free mods $0
skid plate $80
bars and guards $150
fork springs $200
tires $160
bigger tank $200
pipe $250

another $600 turns that bike into a 350.

I really enjoy my KLX, it is a fun bike to ride, fairly inexpensive, cheap to run and will go anywhere my bones want to go. I wish it had more power for highway running but you can't have everything.
I do not like the noise of the Muzzy exhaust but without it the bike is pretty tame.

Well they wouldn't bite on $2500 so I just bought a red '09 for $4709 out the door! I pick it up Monday or Tuesday!

Klx351sm

Stopped by Skagit Powersports in Burlington WA yesterday and was offered a demo ride on their modified KLX250SM, (now a 351). It had the 351 kit, FMF pipe and can, and pumper carb. It felt and sounded wonderful. I'm not much of a wheelie guy, but just rolling the throttle on in second at about 20 raised the wheel nicely without shifting my weight or anything.

They dyno'd it at each stage of modification. Told me the gain from the increased bore, then how much more with the pipe. Said the carb was a waste of time and money. Suggested just rejetting the stock carb would be fine.

They bought ten of these bikes and are selling them "stock" for just under four thousand plus tax, title, and license. They will install all the upgrades for you if you want them. I think he said everything but the carb would add about 1500, but this was off the top of his head.

I was so impressed I thought briefly of buying one, but I really have no need for a Motard. Also, I'd probably have a hard time controlling my right hand and would end up with some sort of ticket.

So, why am I posting about this bike on the KLX250S thread. Well, it's the same motor so anyone could do the same thing to their S model. I just wanted to give my impression of how nice the power was. I have no connection with them other than I've bought a couple of new bikes and other stuff from them

Anyone that lives close enough can go get a demo ride to see for themselves how nice it is.

Where's the best places to order parts online for this bike?? Definitely need skid plate and radiator guards to start
EDIT: Ordered Unabiker radiator guards in black, and will be ordering a skid plate from B&B - looks like the best protection out of a couple (less expensive) ones I found.

I just bought a 2009 KLX250SF, I pick it up tomorrow. Insurance is so much cheaper then it was for my CBR 900RR.

Sadly I can see myself dropping another 1,000 into little odds and ends for this bike.

Wicked Parts ordered!

Well B&B is still in the process of checking to see if their skidplate fits the '09, so in the meantime I ordered a few parts. Unabiker radiator guards, Renthal Carmichael Red/Silver bars, black/red Renthal bar pad, Pro Grips 791 black/red triple density grips, iron cross grip donuts, black Acerbis Rally Pro hand guards, LightSpeed Performance carbon fiber frame guards, Works Connection rear calliper guard, and WheelingCycleSuppy's Edge smoked led tail light kit - red axle blocks - aluminum throttle tube. Just need the skidplate and oversize gas tank!

Well I put about ten miles on the bike today, it feels like a toy compared to my 900RR. It is pretty light and easy to bring inside myself. I really have to rev this thing up to get it to scoot along.
