The Porsche Thread
I'm not a car nut, but I do like a nice Porsche.
My favorite at the moment is the 550. There is something in the lines of this car that makes me smile.

There is a replica of the 550 running around where I live. Even as a replica they are still cool.

I've got to honest here. I have two 911s. An '86 Carrera and an '00 Carrera 4.
If I had it to all over again I wouldn't have bought the C4. It's nowhere near the car the '86 is in terms of being a "Porshce." |

A friend of mine owned a Porsche 550A Spyder back in the mid 1970's - it had a flat fan 1750cc motor that made around 170 HP in an 1100 pound car. With the "airport" gear set in the transmission this car was incredibly quick.
He set fast time of day at this autocross even with a 360 degree spin in the middle of the course. I could have bought the car in 1978 for $6500 - its worth around $650,000 now...dammik ![]() ![]() I'm restoring my 1956 Custom Carrera right now - trying to get it done in time for the Amelia Island Concours next March:
