Hi
I am looking to order the shinko tires but i dont know what size or brand of tube i should get. Any suggestions?

tube should be same size as tire , so if you got a 3x19 tire , then get a 3x19 tube.

Anyway... They do not record stuff to their database unless it's marked to do so on the invoice. (Per, Alicia) IF, it was marked to do so, on the invoice they will do it. Otherwise they don't know if that particular app was modified before, thus making the sample not true to spec...

She said she MIGHT be able to pull something from you, but she'll need pretty much a copy of your invoice.

Otherwise, I'll have to send the hub in with instructions to copy it to their database...

NX125 Valve Clearnce

Anybody know the valve clearance on a NX125? I know this is the NX250 thread but I can't find a dedicated NX125 thread so I thought I'd highjack this one. Thanks.....

I checked around and cant find any free shop manual downloads on the 125....
I believe that engine was used with other bikes, may take a bit of research.

There's a guy on the Tucson Bulletin Board who has an NX125 - I'll pm him and see if he has a manual but it might take a day or two for a reply.

I'm looking at those shinko's, too (at ~$50 a set shipped, it's hard not to), but I'm worried they may be too skinny. It looks like the front might be okay but I'm not sure on the back. If you do get them, can you snap some pics of them next to the TW's so we can get an idea of a width comparison?

Meanwhile, has anyone used full knobbies? What kind? What size? Did you have to relocate the front fender?

(And yes, I looked at the first page of this thread and, while there are a couple of choices listed there, seems like there might be some adventuresome folks who might have tried something else.....)

You should go no skinnier than the stock 120/90/16.
The 3.00x16" would, more likely than not, be dangerous.




There are tire conversions for metric to standard conversions...FIND ONE!!

basically you want just over 4 inches wide on the rear tire, as the rim is wide for the NX...just like the WR250X rims are alot wider than the WR250R rims..

If you have the 17" rear rim, go no skinnier than the (4.10) or 4.60x17"





I agree the Shinko FRONT is a little skinny, at 2.75x19

I usually like 3.25 on the front, I think the 3.0 is a little skinny, and it (2.75)for sure makes the bike 'nimble' in the front.
If the Shinko 244 was offered in either of those sizes, i would have went with the largest available.


I have about 5000 miles on the Shinko front, and it's wearing normally, and has given me confident riding..
I would however, duely note, i would like it more if it were similar in width to the MEfo ME99 3.5x19" that i think J@QS found, which is very similar to the stock OEM TrailWing in size.

I have found the Cheng Shin C858 to be a nice, nice rear. It has full, tall knobs with great spacing, and a durable compound usually good for just under 6000 miles for the rear. A 4.60 is cheap, and a great width, compared to stock 120/90/16...

My 4.60 x 17 is because i have swapped with the 17" rear from an XL.



I believe the next front i am going to go with will be a 19" REAR tire, just mounted to the front.

I haven't decided the brand/make yet....but that's what i am thinking about doing for the next front tire.

I'm perfectly happy with the 4.60 x 17" ChengShin C858 on the rear, on the road or off it.

Great traction, and it isn't 'squirmy' in the turns like the Kenda K270. Plus it lasts longer than the Kenda.



If the Shinko244 came in a 3.5 x 19 front, it would be perfect....well, not perfect, but it would be about all you could ask for in a front, considering the price, currently at $20(2.75).

That's great news on the Cheng Shen IF someone's done the 17" conversion....


How about something for those who are still running the 16" rear?


(and that's a bummer about the shinkos 'cause I was ready to just close my eyes and pull the trigger on those)

Does anyone remember what post it was where the guy made an aluminium skid plate?

I can't seem to find it and i don't remember if it is here or the other thread.

Last I need to purchase bar risers and was wondering what the bar size is on stock NX250's

Stock bars are 7/8"

I used full knobbies on my first NX. I don't remember the actual size but it's the same as a CRF150.

I think it was you Jeff that made the first aluminum skid plate, and I do remeber it being on the old board on his old old NX.
