Alarming when nearing waypoints for 276c or 478

I've been using one or the other of the two units above for several years and am fairly familiar and confident with them. They do not allow for importing POIs but can have 3000 waypoints. I've often created waypoints of POIs to allow routing to them.

With the advent of redlight and speed cameras, I'd like to bookmark those as waypoints in local areas and along routes for tours. All this is doable and I know how. Does anyone here know if I can cause the unit to audibly alarm when it nears a waypoint? I sure could use a wakeup call when I get near those damn cameras, even when I know where they are.

I've been playing with settings and if it's possible I haven't found it or figured out how to do it.

276c owner's manual, page 32-33. You can set up 100 proximity points and adjust the warning circle for 0 to 99.99 of whatever units you are using.

EDIT: Looks like this be only be an option in "Marine Mode" though

On my 376 it's off the Main menu, Points submenu, Proximity tab.

Don't know how much of an audible alarm it give. Probably just a beep.

Yes. I've set several waypoints to proximity alarms. I kept it to 0.1 miles for these godawful cameras. That should be adequate.

I'll test later today and see what kind of alarm I get.
