oziexplorer+natmap=???

ok, so i'm a noob at GPS, or should that be knob?
i've got oziexplorer installed. i've got natmap installed.
oziexplorer is asking for .map files, and all i can find are .ecw files.
so what am i doing wrong?
or is it something really easy that i'm just not getting.
i've used the import map bit and imported the .ecw files from the natmap folder out of the 250Kmosiac subfolder. it says 1 map imported successfully then when i do the folder that isn't the mosiac one it says 8 maps imported successfully.
i just can't find out what to do with them next.

and lastly, does oziexplorer support magellan triton 500.
which is perhaps the question i should have asked first.
i'm doing all this because the stock program they want you to use for a triton 500 is vantage point and it manages to both suck and blow at the same time. awesome for a hooker, less useful for software.
i'm seriously thinking of reprogramming this fucker with an axe and buying a seeing eye dog.
any help appreciated.
ta.

You need to have this moved over to the GPS forum here = http://www.advrider.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=37 and you should get a suitable reply.

Ozi needs a map image and you have something.ecw and also something.map calibration files so it knows where the edge of the map is.

Yes, a Triton will give position info to Ozi

Natmap .map files

The Oziexplorer .map files for Naptmap are only about 2mb in total and can be donwloaded free from a number of places.

Try Here:
http://www.gpsoz.com.au/OziExplorer_Users.htm

Once they are on your pooter each file needs to be modified so it knows where the relevant ecw file is. Ozi does this automatically and I think this explains it:
http://www.exploroz.com/Forum/Topic/...iexplorer.aspx

These are probably the most useful set of maps for ride planning because they show both state forests and nat parks, and are the same data used by shonkymaps in Garmins. So just head for the green bits.
