Talking Day trip through the Brisbane Ranges, VIC Australia (07 Aug 2010)

This is my first ride report, so forgive any n00b issues. I've only been riding for about 2 months now. I commute to work in the CBD and have really only gotten out of Melbourne a couple of times. I've been itching to do some trail riding, so Muggles and I made plans to hit the Brisbane Ranges for a Saturday ride.

We left around 9am, grabbed coffee and brekkie around St Kilda and hit the road. We took the M1 for a boring stretch out to Little River Rd and through You Yangs and into the eastern edge of the Ranges.

Stopped for a bit at the start of the dirt to let some air out of the tyres and snap some pics while our bikes were still fairly clean.

Stopped by the lake for a quick break. Had to skirt under an electric fence, but snapped a picture of Ed in front of the lake.

A round-about ride and back into another entrance of the park.

A really fun winding path up. Part of the trail up to this vantage point...

At this point, we started heading north out of the park. There were some exciting downhill winding turns (some a bit sketchy for me, being a noob, but fun nonetheless) and we were out the park. We headed north to Bacchus Marsh for some petrol and a bite to eat, then south east avoiding the M1 as long as possible. We tried to find some more dirt on the way back, but the only path we found had a large road closure sign warning of prosecution. We tried a couple of side roads, but they proved to be dead-ends forcing us to turn around.
We went back through Werribee, through Point Cook and reluctantly to the M1 and home.

It was an absolute killer time and I'm looking to hit some more dirt very soon!!

Cheers

Nice one boys. Looks like you were having fun. We have looked at doing a ride up there and maybe getting into Lerderderg as well.

Thanks for sharing and look forward to seeing the other photos.

Cheers WH

Looks like some nice riding up there. Maybe you guys could organize a Snail Trails ride there and encourage a few noobs out to play

Enjoyed the RR guys.
