Montana Beartooth Beemers Rally

I had attended this Rally the first two years and was finally within range to ride over this weekend. A great small get together with fantastic riding, great food and good folks.

I'll cut the BS and get to the photos...

The gathering is held at the Lions Camp , a few cabins are available if so desired. Nice hot showers too....the meadow looking into the main area..

Quite a few "ADV" labels about...

Night time lows were in the 50's but these bikes still wanted their "Blankies"...

Wow, A Banana Seat!

A couple of sidecar rigs about...I left mine home in favor of two wheels this weekend...I covered about a 1000 miles or so and my hack would have been pushed pretty hard.

Great location. Had a "Beer Wagon" in action all weekend.

The MT. Airhead flag made its' appearance.

My old "critter" atop the Beartooth Pass. I made a solo run over the pass to Cooke City MT. then through the Sunlight Basin over "Dead Indian Pass".

The "Bears Tooth" is "barely" visible in the center along horizon.

Great view across to Glacier Lake...I used to backpack up there in the winter.

The Rally's namesake..."The Bears Tooth"

Over the west summit and a view of Pilot & Index Peaks...Cooke City sits on the opposite side of the peaks...

Main street view of Cooke City...4 miles to Yellowstone Park from here.

Old Hotel on Main Street

Bridge in Sunlight Basin

Partial Twisty View from Dead Indian Hill

Red Wyoming Dirt

Big Ass wildfire off in the distance...near Columbus MT. Photo taken from hill above Red Lodge MT. This fire has grown to nearly 8000 acres by 5:00 PM Today.

Back to the rally site at 4:00 pm..some random photos...

This R65 had more character than most...

Sat. evening and a great weekend...rode back my 300 miles and home by 5:00...weekend well spent!

Tnx for report & pics

Is this always held at the same location each year? If so, will have to make it next year. I really like the area around the Stillwater river.

The Rally is held in the same location each season. You won't be dissappointed! They will hold it late in August again next year. Registering early will save you $. The Lions Camp limits the population to 250 souls...this year the population was around 150 - 180. Great representation from Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, MT., a couple from OZ, New Zealand, England, Germany, AZ.,some from back East, etc. They did a great job feeding us...The Lions Club also does breakfast for those who want.

More Photos....

My Father , myself , brothers and cousins built this cabin in Cooke City in the late 70's - early 80's...this was our Summer / Winter hide out for 25 years...Now in the hands of a new owner
I know the area mountain trails quite well. There were lots of old remote mine relics / sites years ago...haven't explored the old routes for quite a few years...I've heard they have cleaned up alot of the old mine sites.

The fires of 1988 took out the western slope forest...damn near got our house.

Back in Sunlight Basin

Surprised how few bullet holes there are...after all this is Wyoming...

The west side of Heart Mountain if I'm not mistaken. A gentileman from Oregon I'm working with (a Federal Govt. contract employee) was born at the Heart Mountain Relocation Camp. His parents were California farmers at the outbreak of WW2 and were interred there. He has never been back to the site. They were released in 1945.

A few miles from home.
