RAZORBACK Report---nsw far/sth coast--OZ

A ride for the nutters that like to go back country.
Have put this ride off for many yrs, because could ,nt find a soul that had ridden it ,,,apart from a bloke who spent months in there wondering around with a donkey as a pack horse,,in the 80,s,true!!!

after many false starts due to people pulling out ..i said f&^k/it,,and headed down to the razorback....600k round trip.
this trail runs from 2 rivers plain top wadbilliga down to yowrie/cobargo.
track is in very remote area... with no signage at either untill one is deep into nat park,,then some old signs show up.
its apprx 30k from btm of rzrbk to tuross rd wadbilliga ent.....signage at the btm states locked gate at 2 rivers end......this trail is very steep / rocky /loose,,,at 10am on a very cold day,,the 625 was on the cusp of boiling..tk has had little to no traffic is very eroded from water/ boulders but no rutting due to nil traffic ..apprx 2 k from gaining top of great divide dozer has cut in switchbacks into sheer rock ,,with much slab rock and steps to negotiate, once up on top of range,, tk is consistant rock for next 10 k,, with tree,s giving way to heath due to altitude of over 4000ft and exposure.

veiws r spectacular to all points of the compass ,particularly to the east giving way to 150klm panoramas up the coast.considering lack of traffic ,,trak is clear bar some giant mtn ash blocking it here and there but managed to squeeze 625 over and under it. onwards to juntion of kydra f/t ,,from here kydra f/t heads sth terminating .east. of nimmittebell,,,,,,,,rzbk t/kcontinues passing thru 3 gates and 2 properties..before terminating at 2 river plain .,,.having ridden nearly all the trails that breach the great divide from the coast ,,between nowra and eden ,,i have to say the razorback would be the ,,most remote / gnarliest / steepest / most spectacular east west ridge ride of the lot...and its a bloody credit to the dozer driver all those years back. this tk makes the wadbilliga f/t / jillucumbra / etc etc look like tollways!!

Dont be fooled by the proximity to the coast ,this is very remote country and should be treated accordingly ,,particularly if solo.
only one pik for the punters ,,,,,,to busy avoiding taste testing dirt ,,,,,weather and time restrictions,,,maybe next time...the trusty midfielder of the fleet ..625sxc............cheers

You tell a good story there TC !! Well done

Razorback sounds exciting!!

There is certainly some very remote riding in through there, and sounds like you've probably done more than most.

Cheers,
Dan

Having done the road from Cobargo across the mountains (Wadbiliga?) on a couple of Wee Stroms yeah its an easy track but good ride. Your a brave man to do this run alone in such an isolated area.

Brave ,,but a calculated risk..try to ride accordingly ignoring temptation to amp it up!.....Epirb and a bivvy bag .for breakdown or break neck... Its a must do as is jillacambra,,f/t but would,nt do up in summer due to consistant steeepness and o/heating issues..allthough i kept 17 tooth countershaft sproket on for the dirt road blasting.the down side is eccess clutch modulation in technical sections and the resultant heat!!!

Adventure is required to entail a degree of risk and unknown outcome.cheers
