The foam is firmer than stock, and flares out to a full 13" in the seating area.
Just flip the seat over, pull out a buncha staples (mine didn't have many as I had rebuilt it before) ![]() ![]() Pull the OEM foam off and you've got a clean pan to work with ![]() New foam fits the stock pan perfect ![]() Put the cover on just tight enough to get rid of the wrinkles ![]() Shoot a buncha staples in it ![]() And it's ready

On the bike
![]() ![]() ![]() I only had time for a short spin, kinda weird, the foam feels initially soft but with plenty of support. Reminds me of memory foam. The extra width is nice. I'll update this thread as I get some miles on it.

You want to spend more?
Call Russel, for about $700 you can wait about 6 months for a really nice seat. |

I'm in the Russell grop buy and having second thoughts, too bad they don't make it for the SE yet.

They Are making the seat kits for the DR650 now,Ive got one of their tall kits on my DRZe,it felt a little too soft for my 205 lbs with gear on,the seat concepts people shot me out a firmer foam no charge in no time at all.
Great Customer Service, their website says they may make custom kits if you email em and ask about it. Seem like nice guys and trying hard to please. Even the soft foam is way,way better then the stock DRZ torture rack. Nice looking seat on the KLR!

I just installed on on my 450xc last week. One ride on it and it is looking very positive. It is by far the widest/flatest off the shelf option. It gives plenty of room to move around. The quality of the seat cover is very nice.
Previously I have tried the Guts, EE and SDG seats over the years, but nothing was even close for long range comfort. The next test will be to see how well the foam holds up, but right now I say it is looking like the right answer for many riders out there.

Glad to run accross this review. for my DRZ i've tried the Gel seat(crap) the guts soft foam. which I think is harder than the stock seat. I friend has a custom Corbin and it feels like sitting on a brick. I'm willing to give the seat concepts a try. They answered my email ?'s very quickly.
Thanks for the review. |

Seat option
I think these guys are onto a winning formula. 160$ is peanuts for new foam and cover! You don't have to ship your old seat either so there is a savings there as well. Easy for them to have several models for each bike as well. As soon as they have a kit for the Ural I'll order one.

I have ridden every day since installing the seat. At my svelte 250lbs, the foam feels great for short hops, but a full day in the saddle will prolly call for the firm version.
I have had several conversations with the supplier, they seem very open to feedback. Between both of my KLRs, I have built/rebuilt the seats about 10 times, using carpet pad and other foams in all kinda combinations...this seat beats 'em all.
