upload a pic to a photo hosting site like tinypic, etc

then take the link provided for sharing and paste it in a post. it will look like this

http:tinypic.com/myscooter=L345p

or whatever

wrap image tags around it, like this if it doesn't have some already

[img]http:tinypic.com/myscooter=L345p[/img]

[img] is where the image code starts, and [/img] is where it ends. the left SLASH mark indicates the end

post up and watch the magic happen :)

Hell, I am having the same exact problem. I have just been doing what mrprez's post shows. I can get the links, but the photos either don't show or just show a little blue box with a question mark in it.

Why? It worked before, no? WHY? I don't even know what a «pic hosting site is.»

If this is how to do it : « Start doing it the right way: open a SmugMug account - upload your pictures there - copy a link (Share>Get a Link>Embeddable links>BBCode-Large is OK) from SmugMug - paste into the text box that opens in your posting when you click the Insert Image icon (yellow square with mountains» (quoted from JohnSmallberries above, thx, John), I am sorry but this is like Chinese to me. As for how Baldy explained it years ago (see 1st page of this thread) it's even worse (sorry, Baldy.) Being the good boy that I am, I did go visit SmugMug' tutorial as he suggested (so, THAT's a pics hosting site?) and I instantly got a panic attack and a serious rash just reading the first 5 lines. Geez! Not everybody is a computer nerd or a highly trained hacker. Why make things complicated and unfriendly, when it was so simple, for crying out loud!

Oh, BTW, to add insult to injury, I just realized that SmugMug is not for free. You have to pay a fee. Not that I can't afford it. It's a matter of principle: before, adding a pic was simple and free. Now, it's complicated and it costs money.

Guess: Because there are over 150,000 registered members. Maybe there isn't enough room on the servers to allow that many folks to upload unlimited numbers of pictures. Yeah, things were different when there were fewer users. Stuff changes.

Principle? Really? You don't have to use smugmug, you know. You can use any site that lets images to be embedded into web pages. Some of them are free. You can also create your own site, if that is what suits you. Then you could set the rules for posting images.

For example, here is what happens when I do this, a little blue box with a question mark:

When you click on the little mountain scene, ^ erase the http part and paste in your photo link.

Here's what it looks like copied.

http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...urnRide470.jpg

Paste the whole thing in the "mountain" icon and you get this.

vtwin, you are right! It works. BUT I think that there is a problem with my photobucket accound. The above image is just a random image of a scooter off of google images. But here is what happens when I do the exact same thing with my photobucket.

Now, you tell me! Do you know this for a fact, or do you just «guess» it? Are you a moderator or an adminitrator? BTW, when did I say I wanted to «set the rules for posting images.» How about keeping your little personal remarks to yourself? Why is it that as soon as somebody expresses some discontent on a subject, somebody else feels compelled to attack him?

Did I not say "guess"?

And where did I attack you? I gave you a possible reason (which may be wrong ) why you couldn't do what you used to do and told you that there were free solutions to you problem since you don't want to pay for smugmug "on principle".
